The Role:

MDA Space is scaling at warp‑speed, and we need a visionary technology leader to steer the IT experience for 2,000+ colleagues across Montreal, Kirkland, St‑Anne, and other critical sites. You’ll own the end‑to‑end user experience, drive service‑improvement projects, manage vendor contracts, and ensure compliance with ITIL/ITSM, cyber‑security, and BCP standards. The IT Regional Director – Montreal area will oversee local IT service delivery for the Montreal site and surrounding locations, supporting a strong employee experience, reliable operations, and alignment with MDA Space standards. This role partners with local leaders, regional IT teams, vendors, and business stakeholders to improve service quality, support site growth, manage risks, and ensure IT services meet current and future business needs.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Drive a great IT employee experience for sites accountable for /in scope
  • Drive IT engagement for site – ensuring IT employees work as OneTeam
  • Lead local IT services to deliver a consistent, high-quality employee experience across Montreal and surrounding sites.
  • Partner with site leaders and regional IT teams to support growth, resolve issues, and improve service performance.

  • Communicate IT services, standards, performance, and cyber awareness in a clear and practical way for the site.

  • Monitor local service performance, risks, and improvement plans using standard reporting and dashboards.

  • Ensure local infrastructure, tools, and services follow MDA Space standards and support business continuity.

  • Act as the local escalation point for IT incidents, projects, and service concerns, coordinating with the right teams to drive resolution.

  • Support manufacturing and operational teams by ensuring IT services are reliable, consistent, and aligned to business priorities.

  • Oversee local IT assets, vendor services, contracts, and project delivery for site changes or expansions.

  • Maintain compliance with IT, security, asset management, SOX, and assurance requirements.

Leadership & Relationships:

  • Build strong relationships with local leaders, business partners, IT teams, and vendors to ensure services meet business needs.
  • Lead, coach, and support the local IT team while encouraging collaboration, accountability, and continuous improvement.
  • Represent IT locally and help employees understand available support, services, and points of contact.

Key focus:

  • Employee Experience: Leads by example and sets the tone for the IT organization focused on driving a great employee experience through all IT services; Lead and mature site IT infrastructure, tools, and services to support the workforce; ensure high-quality service delivery and continuous improvement aligned with MDA Space global strategies.
  • Team leadership: Build, lead, and develop a local team of skilled IT professionals; accountable for hiring and onboarding the new team and establishing effective ways of working.
  • Technology stewardship: Maintain an in-depth understanding of MDA Space technologies and services; document and maintain the site’s technical landscape to ensure current and future performance meets business needs.
  • Collaborator engagement: Represent the Site IT Technical team within a community of partners and business collaborators; ensure consistent delivery aligned with global roadmaps and standards.
  • Operations and compliance: Manage local vendor contracts and services; ensure alignment to IT standards, security, and compliance requirements.
  • End-user advocacy: Drive a proactive, hands-on approach to user support and experience; see opportunities to exploit existing capabilities for improved outcomes.
  • Timeline and Location: The role will be initially ensuring great employee experience with leadership of various projects cross functionally.

Essential Skills/Job Experience:

  • Passion for delivering world-class service continually challenging in pursuit of the user experience and aspiring for improvement performance.
  • Experience in a Service Manager leadership role, with a consistent track record of owning, being accountable and running an IT Service/Platform/Tools
  • Fluent in English and French written and spoken.
  • Solid experience in a manufacturing or service industry
  • Solid experience of service delivery and exploitation
  • Deep technical understanding across a range of technologies/domains.
  • Good communication and engagement skills and proven relationship management professional
  • Strong collaborator skills to manage local expectations and resolutions.
  • Strong influencing, networking and team working skills
  • Good experience working in standards/governed/compliant environment
  • Strong working knowledge of ITIL, ITSM Toolset or similar.
  • Demonstrable experience in managing local vendors, contracts, renewals, RFP activities.
  • Leader and teammate – sets example for team or coaches others, effective collaboration across your region with your peers.
  • Experience managing, developing teams with an open, honest, accountable and collaborative team environment.

Desirable Skills/Experience:

  • PMP
  • Six Sigma Black Belt
  • ITIL certified
  • Customer Experience certified a bonus

Special Considerations:

Successful candidates must obtain and hold security clearance at the NATO Secret level, and pass security assessment for the Controlled Goods Program (CGP), and be able to obtain higher clearances.
