The A220 commercial aircraft program is seeking an engineer specializing in the development and integration of hydro-mechanical components to join the Aircraft Control department based in Mirabel (Quebec, Canada), where you will work closely with teams in Mirabel, Toulouse, and Bremen.
You will be part of the Aircraft Control team, which is responsible for the development, certification, production support, and in-service support of flight control and hydraulic systems for the A220 aircraft. We collaborate closely with systems and structures design groups, certification authorities, and various engineering disciplines to deliver reliable and safe systems for the A220.
As a specialist in the development and integration of hydro-mechanical components, your role will involve participating in every phase of the mechanical equipment development lifecycle, from design and implementation to testing, certification, production and in-service support, and the maintenance of airworthiness. These activities are carried out in collaboration with our European counterparts within the Airbus Group, allowing us to leverage lessons learned from other Airbus platforms.

Your challenges:
- Lead the development and integration of hydro-mechanical equipment for the A220 aircraft.
- Evaluate and approve supplier designs by participating in solution development, design, manufacturing, integration, and verification processes.
- Collaborate with other program functions and disciplines to exchange the information necessary to advance development and certification projects.
- Conduct technical investigations, analyze issues, and develop solutions.
- Participate in the preparation, execution, and analysis of investigative, development, and certification tests, particularly on the integrated systems simulation and certification platform (Iron Bird).
- Draft and review technical reports, including technical requirements documentation and requirements validation and verification.
- Manage system design changes in accordance with the A220 change management process.
- Provide technical support to the A220 production line to resolve issues affecting mechanical equipment. This support could be outside of normal working hours.
- Lead technical efforts regarding continued airworthiness for emerging issues impacting the system.
- Support the Customer Service department regarding in-service issues: investigations (in-depth root cause analysis and definition of corrective actions), investigation procedures, and disposition.
Your boarding pass:
- You hold a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Mechanical or Aeronautical Engineering from an accredited university and have at least 5 years of relevant experience;
- You have knowledge of the specification, design, integration, testing, and certification of hydromechanical equipment;
- Experience with servo-loop performance is an asset;
- You have knowledge of RTCA DO-160;
- Experience with CATIA/ENOVIA is considered an asset;
- An understanding of certification requirements (TCCA/FAA/EASA Part 25) is an asset;
- Experience with processes for maintaining aircraft airworthiness and safety is considered an asset;
- Practical experience in production support or in-service aircraft support is an asset;
- You have knowledge of simulation using Matlab software (an asset);
- You possess strong communication skills (written and oral) in French and English;
Due to the sector of activity (aerospace), frequent contacts with Airbus entities worldwide, and interactions with suppliers and clients also located across the globe, proficiency in English is required for this position.
This role may involve some travels for business (in Europe and USA).
