Air Canada is seeking dynamic, motivated trainers and facilitators with a proactive attitude to join its cabin crew training team. The trainer in this role has organizational, communication and analytical skills to help our 8,000 cabin crew members maintain and exceed our four‑star Skytrax rating and our excellent safety reputation. To do so, the trainer will train, coach and assess crew members to become full‑service and safety professionals.

Responsibilities

  • Deliver classroom training, practical (simulator) training, and facilitation on safety and service‑related elements.
  • Facilitate understanding of technical and commercial (customer service) documents and provide instruction related to them.
  • Perform all administrative tasks before and after training sessions.
  • Provide coaching inside and outside the classroom (onboard, in Crew Centers, at boarding gates, etc.) as required.
  • Measure and evaluate participant performance. Provide timely feedback or coaching based on training and established performance objectives.
  • Co‑lead and work on special projects assigned by management or other operational teams (introduction of a new aircraft, inflight entertainment system, e‑learning, training design).
  • Work closely with Training Design and Inflight Service Bases to provide support and assistance as needed.
  • Collect or request operational and training performance information in areas such as procedure management, program design and development, and participant performance.
  • Contribute to the design and development of core training programs as required.
  • Review, evaluate and revise current and proposed programs. Provide ongoing feedback for existing programs.
  • Support and participate in internal and external audits when necessary.
  • Participate in all train‑the‑trainer sessions on safety, service and instructional elements related to training.
  • Evaluate or coordinate recruitment as required.
  • Work collaboratively with colleagues and supervisors to meet and exceed management and operational objectives.
  • Successfully complete Initial Flight Attendant Training and maintain flight attendant qualifications throughout the trainer role.
  • Challenge the status quo and adopt a continuous improvement philosophy in all training areas.
  • Be able to receive constructive feedback from frontline staff, colleagues and managers, and provide it as well.

Qualifications

  • Strong knowledge of training development and adult learning principles.
  • Excellent written and verbal presentation skills.
  • Excellent facilitation and teaching abilities.
  • Strong interpersonal skills, leadership qualities and conflict resolution skills.
  • Ability to work as part of a team and a high level of confidence in correcting one’s own errors and those of others.
  • Forward‑thinking mindset.
  • Strong commitment to health and safety.
  • Ongoing commitment to customer service.
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision and seek help when needed.
  • High flexibility and adaptability, ability to meet deadlines, work under pressure and prioritize multiple projects.
  • Availability for duty travel, variable schedules and overtime.
  • Previous experience in inflight service, training and customer service is an asset.
  • Bachelor's degree in education or a related discipline, or equivalent professional experience is an asset.

Conditions of Employment

Candidates must be eligible to work in the relevant country at the time an offer is made and are responsible for obtaining work permits, visas or other required authorizations. Proof of eligibility must be provided before the start date.
