Air Canada, recently named Best Airline in North America, is seeking dynamic and motivated trainers and facilitators with a proactive attitude to join its cabin crew training team. The trainer in this role has organizational, communication and analytical skills to help our 8,000 cabin crew members maintain and exceed our Skytrax four-star rating, as well as our excellent safety reputation. To achieve this, the trainer will train, coach and assess cabin crew members to become full-service and safety professionals.
Responsibilities
- Deliver classroom training, practical simulator training and facilitation on safety and service-related topics.
- Facilitate understanding of technical and commercial documents (customer service) and provide instruction on them.
- Perform all administrative tasks before and after training sessions.
- Provide coaching inside and outside the classroom (onboard, in Crew Centers, at boarding gates, etc.) as required.
- Measure and evaluate participant performance and provide timely feedback or coaching based on training and performance objectives.
- Co-lead and work on special projects assigned by management or other operational teams (introduction of a new aircraft, inflight entertainment system, e-learning, training design).
- Work closely with Learning Design and Inflight Service Bases to provide support and assistance as needed.
- Gather or request operational and training performance information related to procedures management, program design and participant performance.
- Contribute to the design and development of key training programs as needed.
- Review, assess and revise current and proposed programs, providing ongoing feedback for existing programs.
- Support and participate in internal and external audits when necessary.
- Attend all train-the-trainer sessions on safety, service and instructional topics related to training.
- Assess or coordinate recruitment as needed.
- Collaborate with colleagues and supervisors to meet and exceed management and operational objectives.
- Complete initial flight attendant training and maintain flight attendant qualifications throughout a trainer career.
- Challenge the status quo and adopt a continuous improvement philosophy across all training areas.
- Receive and provide constructive feedback to frontline staff, colleagues and managers.
Qualifications
- Strong knowledge of training development and adult learning principles.
- Excellent written and verbal presentation skills.
- Excellent facilitation and instructional skills.
- Strong interpersonal skills, proven leadership qualities and strong conflict resolution abilities.
- Ability to work as part of a team and high confidence in correcting one’s own and others' errors.
- Forward-thinking mindset.
- Strong focus on health and safety.
- Consistent commitment to customer service.
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision and to ask for help when needed.
- Flexibility and adaptability; ability to meet deadlines, work under pressure and prioritize multiple projects.
- Availability for service travel, variable schedules and overtime.
- Previous experience in inflight service, training and customer service is a strong asset.
- Bachelor’s degree in education or a related discipline, or equivalent professional experience, is an asset.
