Manufacturing Engineering Manager

In this stimulating role, you will assume responsibility for the plant's manufacturing engineering and process sector. You will play a primarily tactical role aimed at optimizing production systems to meet customer needs. You will also ensure effective management of your sector's resources, in collaboration with a team composed of managers, professionals, and technicians.

Your responsibilities:

  • Plan, organize, direct, and control activities related to manufacturing engineering in order to achieve production, quality, and cost objectives
  • Establish team work standards
  • Ensure the maintenance of internal processes within the sector and their optimization
  • Ensure the involvement of your sector during engineering projects
  • Approve the design of tooling, production equipment, methods, or assembly procedures
  • Develop and maintain the documentation required by the manufacturing system
  • Get involved in problem-solving and continuous improvement activities
  • Perform budget tracking and cost control
  • Participate in the development of your sector's master plan
  • Ensure compliance with environmental standards and related activities
  • Integrate health and safety elements into any manufacturing development project
  • Ensure compliance with OHS laws and regulations, particularly in emergency measure planning, and contribute to developing a risk-free work environment
  • Ensure the management and development of the team under your responsibility
  • Encourage and foster the active participation and involvement of colleagues in the improvement of processes and procedures
  • Create and maintain harmonious and effective relationships with other company departments
  • Provide management with all information necessary for the improvement of your sector
  • Communicate the mission and vision of the manufacturing engineering department to your group and ensure its implementation through daily actions
  • Promote team spirit, communication, and colleague mobilization
  • Evaluate your team members and ensure their development and performance

Skills profile:

  • Bachelor's degree in mechanical, electrical, industrial engineering, or another relevant discipline
  • Ten (10) years of relevant experience in a manufacturing environment
  • Five (5) years of experience in managing a manufacturing engineering team
  • Project management experience
  • Enjoy working with people, knowing how to recognize their contribution to the company's success and providing them with the necessary support to improve their performance
  • Rigour and inspiring leadership
  • Very good ability to manage priorities
  • Dynamism, autonomy, global vision, and analytical mind
  • Excellent communicator and good team spirit
  • Good tolerance to stress and change
  • In-depth knowledge of lean manufacturing and continuous improvement tools
  • Good knowledge of ISO 9000 and 14000 standards
  • Knowledge of occupational health and safety standards
  • Computer knowledge: Microsoft Office Suite, Autocad, Inventor, knowledge of an MRP manufacturing system
  • Bilingualism (English/French)
