Role:

The AIT Manager manages the assembly, integration, and testing of a program, program element, or product to meet customer and company expectations. A broader objective of this position is to support company growth by undertaking tasks that may not directly impact program management (e.g., interacting with senior management and line managers on operational issues identified within the program).

Responsibilities:

AIT Manager – Common Core

• Acts as an ambassador for their unit and, as such, actively communicates with internal stakeholders to plan and execute manufacturing and production activities on their lines.
• Examines requests from program management, product development, and chain management departments. Then applies and organizes the resources necessary to manage the AIT (assembly, integration, and test) portion of an overall program or product.
• Must be able to negotiate and provide feedback to program managers who have direct relationships with the external customer, whether regarding products, resources, funding, or methods.
• Prepares detailed schedules to track daily product progress, conducts frequent and regular cost-to-date and estimate-to-complete assessments, and develops alternative plans as necessary to achieve cost and schedule objectives.
• Reports key issues and opportunities for improvement within their unit and proposes solutions.
• Participates in product and design kick-off meetings and ensures that manufacturing line specifications are met. In other words, the manager must ensure that proposed designs are compatible with current equipment wherever possible.
• Acts as a consultant, providing technical advice and guidance.
• Must be able to make decisions and, if necessary, take a stand based on evidence in the best interest of the company.
• Ensures AIT visibility at the management level through regular meetings dedicated to reviewing technical, management, and project progress aspects.

Satellite Unit Specific:

• Continuous improvement of the new high-volume integration line, where possible.
• Must define the parameters and implementation sequence for their line.
• Performs occasional follow-ups with suppliers and oversees the commissioning of new equipment.
• Develops maintenance and qualification plans for the satellite product line.
• Works with programs that are in the bidding or proposal phase. These programs focus on satellite design. The manager must therefore know their field, its limits, and the capabilities of their lines in order to provide a realistic and technical contribution.

Professional Experience:

• Degree in mechanical, electrical, or industrial engineering, bachelor's degree or higher
• 7 years of experience in program/project management or project engineering in a related technical field
• 7 years of experience in assembly, integration, or testing
• Experience in negotiations, risk management, contract management, subcontract management, finance, and US ITAR regulations.
• Interpersonal skills and leadership abilities.
• Communication skills in French and English required (contact with clients as well as head office personnel in Ontario).

Comments/Special Considerations:

Successful candidates must obtain and maintain a Reliability Status security clearance and successfully pass the Controlled Goods Program (CGP) security assessment.
