Role:

The AIT Manager manages the assembly, integration, and testing of a program, program element, or product, to meet customer and business expectations. A broader objective of this position is to support business growth by undertaking tasks that may not directly impact program management (e.g., interaction with general management and hierarchical executives on operational issues identified in the program).

Tasks:

AIT Manager – Core responsibilities

• Acts as an ambassador for their unit and, as such, actively communicates with internal stakeholders to plan and execute manufacturing and production activities on their lines.
• Reviews requests from departments responsible for program management, product development, and line management. Then applies and organizes the necessary resources to manage the AIT (assembly, integration, and test) portion of a program or product as a whole.
• Must be able to negotiate and provide feedback to program managers who have direct relationships with the external client, whether regarding products, resources, funding, or methods.
• Prepares detailed schedules to track daily product progress, conducts frequent and regular evaluations of costs to date and estimates to completion, and develops alternative plans as needed to achieve cost and schedule objectives.
• Reports key problems and opportunities for improvement within their unit and proposes solutions.
• Participates in product and design launch meetings and ensures that manufacturing line specifications are met. In other words, the manager must ensure that proposed designs are compatible with current equipment wherever possible.
• Acts as a consultant, providing technical advice and guidance.
• Must be able to make decisions and, if necessary, take a stand based on evidence, in the best interest of the company.
• Ensures AIT visibility at the management level through regular meetings dedicated to reviewing technical aspects, management, and project progress.

Specific to the Satellite unit:

• Continuous improvement of the new high-volume integration line, wherever possible.
• Must define the parameters and implementation sequence for their line.
• Conducts occasional follow-ups with suppliers and supervises the commissioning of new equipment.
• Develops maintenance and qualification plans for the satellite range.
• Works with programs that are in the submission or proposal phase. These programs focus on satellite design. The manager must therefore be familiar with their field, its limitations, and the capabilities of their lines to make a realistic and technical contribution.

Professional experience:

• Mechanical, electrical, or industrial engineering degree, bachelor's degree or higher
• 7 years of program/project management or project engineering experience in a related technical field
• 7 years of experience in assembly, integration, or testing
• Experience in negotiations, risk management, contract management, subcontract management, finance, and US ITAR regulations.
• Interpersonal skills and leadership abilities.
• Communication skills in French and English required (Contact with clients as well as headquarters staff in Ontario).

Comments/Special Considerations:

Successful candidates must obtain and maintain a security clearance at the Reliability status level and successfully complete the security assessment for the Controlled Goods Program (CGP).
