3PL Project Manager – Parts and Service

Sector: Transportation / Logistics

We are supporting our client, a major player in the transportation industry, in their search for a 3PL Project Manager – Parts and Service (Third-Party Logistics).

In this strategic role, you will be responsible for managing and coordinating outsourced logistics activities with 3PL partners located in Canada and the United States. You will act as the central point of contact between internal operations, logistics partners, carriers, and various stakeholders to ensure a high level of service, inventory accuracy, adherence to deadlines, and optimization of logistics costs.

Role and Responsibilities

3PL Operations Management

  • Coordinate daily activities with external logistics service providers.
  • Track inbound and outbound shipments.
  • Ensure compliance with service level agreements (SLAs) and key performance indicators (KPIs).
  • Quickly identify and resolve issues related to deliveries, inventories, and warehousing operations.
  • Coordinate activities with 3PL partners located in Canada and the United States.

Inventory Management

  • Ensure inventory accuracy between internal systems and those of 3PL partners.
  • Monitor inventory discrepancies and coordinate corrective actions.
  • Participate in cycle and annual inventory audits.
  • Analyze stock movements and propose improvements to optimize operations.

Performance Tracking

  • Develop, produce, and analyze logistics performance reports.
  • Monitor key KPIs, including:
    • Inventory accuracy;
    • Adherence to delivery deadlines;
    • OTIF;
    • Fill Rate;
    • 3PL partner service levels;
    • Logistics costs;
    • Operational incident resolution.
  • Identify trends, recurring issues, and improvement opportunities.
  • Participate in performance review meetings with 3PL partners.
  • Implement and monitor action plans aimed at improving service and reducing costs.

Coordination and Communication

  • Act as the primary liaison between internal teams—including procurement, customer service, sales, and finance—and logistics partners.
  • Ensure effective communication regarding operational priorities, delays, and issues.
  • Maintain strong relationships with 3PL partners and carriers.
  • Support continuous improvement projects and logistics transformation initiatives.

Compliance and Continuous Improvement

  • Ensure compliance with internal procedures, company policies, and applicable regulatory requirements.
  • Participate in the development, improvement, and documentation of operational processes.
  • Identify and implement solutions to improve operational efficiency, service quality, and customer satisfaction.

Profile Sought

Education and Experience

  • College diploma or university degree in logistics, supply chain management, administration, or a related field.
  • Minimum of 10 years of experience in a logistics, transportation, distribution, or warehouse management environment.
  • Experience in managing or coordinating 3PL providers is a significant asset.
  • Experience in a manufacturing or distribution environment is an asset.

Technical Skills

  • Excellent knowledge of inventory management, warehousing, distribution, and transportation processes.
  • Good command of ERP and WMS systems such as SAP, Oracle, Microsoft Dynamics, Manhattan, or equivalent.
  • Excellent mastery of Microsoft Excel and data analysis tools.
  • Good knowledge of logistics performance indicators such as OTIF, Fill Rate, Inventory Accuracy, and SLA.
  • Ability to analyze operational data and identify opportunities for optimization and cost reduction.

  • Functional to advanced English to communicate effectively with logistics partners in Canada and the United States.

Travel

  • Availability to undertake occasional travel within Canada and the United States to support operations and 3PL partners.
