As the Technical Project Manager, you will play a pivotal role in our efforts to optimize the value chain and deliver exceptional project results within the supply chain domain. Reporting to the Airfoil and Casting Technical and Technology Associate Director, you will lead complex, large-scale initiatives that drive operational excellence and innovation. This role provides a unique opportunity to collaborate with multidisciplinary teams, influence supplier networks, and work on groundbreaking technologies.
The department's mission is to ensure procurement objectives in terms of quality, cost, and timely delivery while focusing on advanced manufacturing techniques associated to sand casting, investment casting, and machining. Here are some examples of projects that you will be managing: lead multiple complex transition projects and casting design changes to improve delivery, quality and manufacturability; lead transformation projects that are aiming at improving the supplier performance by using technology.
The position is based at our Longueuil location, from Monday to Friday, with flexible hours and exclusively on-site.
What will your day-to-day look like?
- Develop expertise in sand casting and investment casting materials and processes.
- Leverage new technologies to address and overcome supplier process challenges.
- Understand project objectives and define clear scopes of work for successful execution.
- Prepare and present business case aiming at securing project funding.
- Create and lead detailed project and budget plans, monitor progress and expenses, and ensure adherence to the project goal and financial targets.
- Maintain consistent communication with stakeholders, providing regular updates and progress reports.
- Guide and motivate team members, ensuring alignment with project goals and timelines.
- Identify and resolve cross-functional challenges related to processes and quality, escalating critical issues when required.
- Conduct supplier on-site assessments and develop actionable plans based on findings.
- Analyze supplier inspection data and use statistical tools to evaluate process capabilities.
- Collaborate with Engineering, Quality and the suppliers to progress the project.
What do you need to be successful?
- A Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering with 5-10 years of professional experience, or 7-12 years of experience in a similar role.
- Or a Master's or Doctorate degree with 3-7 years of professional experience.
- Experience in metrology and 3D inspection (asset).
- Expertise in manufacturing processes for cast parts, including sand casting and investment casting (asset).
- In-depth knowledge of machining processes for cast parts (asset).
This position is part of a French-speaking work environment; it requires a very good knowledge of English to read and understand, on a daily basis, documentation and technical terms that may emanate from international organizations, as well as to write and communicate in English with customers, suppliers or international colleagues.
