The incumbent plays a strategic role in drafting and managing contracts and overseeing the complete lifecycle of proposals and technical and financial estimates. This individual coordinates internal teams to produce clear, accurate, competitive contracts and proposals that comply with customer requirements.
Working closely with Engineering, Production, Quality, and Finance, the Contracts and Estimating Manager must understand the realities of a manufacturing environment and be comfortable interacting directly with plant operations and production-floor teams.
As the primary customer contact, this individual must demonstrate strong interpersonal skills, build lasting professional relationships, and clearly present contractual, technical, and financial information to a variety of audiences.

Responsibilities
- Draft, review, and update contracts, amendments, commercial agreements, and other contractual documents
- Ensure that contracts clearly reflect negotiated terms, customer requirements, and the company’s commitments
- Coordinate and manage all requests for quotation, from initial receipt through final proposal submission
- Prepare or oversee detailed estimates covering labour related to machining, assembly, and automation, as well as materials, special processes, treatments, and subcontracting
- Develop and maintain Excel-based analytical models to evaluate costs, margins, financial scenarios, and pricing strategies
- Work directly with Engineering, Production, Quality, and production-floor teams to validate assumptions, manufacturing times, and project feasibility
- Lead the preparation of complete, competitive proposals that comply with customer requirements
- Serve as the primary customer contact for matters related to estimates, proposals, and contractual requirements
- Develop and maintain strong professional relationships with customers and internal partners
- Analyze contractual requirements, customer standards, and technical clauses
- Prepare and deliver proposals, analyses, and recommendations to senior management, customers, and multidisciplinary teams
- Lead meetings and communicate complex contractual, technical, and financial information clearly
- Participate actively, with the support of senior management, in negotiations involving schedules, payment terms, warranties, penalties, and contractual risks
- Ensure that proposals comply with industry standards and aerospace requirements related to quality, traceability, and regulatory compliance
- Assess the technical, financial, and operational feasibility of proposed projects
- Prepare comparative analyses, cost scenarios, and pricing strategies
- Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives related to contract, proposal, and estimating processes
- Perform all other related duties
Education
- University education in Engineering, Business Administration, Project Management, or a related discipline
Skills and Qualifications
- Demonstrated experience drafting, reviewing, and managing contracts and commercial documents
- Relevant experience in a manufacturing environment and comfort working directly with plant operations and production-floor teams
- Experience in aerospace or another technically complex industry is considered a strong asset
- Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel, including complex formulas, pivot tables, and the development of cost and financial analysis models
- Demonstrated experience preparing estimates and proposals
- Excellent interpersonal skills, professional presence, and the ability to develop strong customer relationships
- Strong presentation and public-speaking skills, with confidence addressing customers, senior management, and multidisciplinary teams
- Ability to explain complex technical, contractual, and financial information clearly
- Strong negotiation, analytical, and problem-solving abilities
- Experience working in an AS9100-certified environment or under an equivalent standard
- Knowledge of precision machining and mechanical assembly processes is considered an asset
- Professional proficiency in both French and English, spoken and written, to communicate regularly with customers located outside Quebec and draft or process contractual and technical documentation in English
