Position Summary
We are looking for a results-driven Manager - Public Relations and Strategic Communications to lead MHIRJ's communications and public relations activities. Reporting to the Director of Brand Image, Communications and Government Affairs, this individual will play a key role in developing impactful messaging, strengthening relationships with media and stakeholders, developing internal communications and amplifying the company's voice.
Your contribution as Manager - Public Relations and Strategic Communications:
- Develop and drive the company's proactive public relations strategy in key markets, aligning media activities with business objectives and growth priorities.
- Lead all external communications, media relations, and public relations event planning to enhance brand visibility, credibility, and reputation.
- Oversee strategy and execution across various social media platforms.
- Identify, design, and implement media opportunities, announcements, thought leadership initiatives, and high-impact corporate storytelling.
- Position company leaders and experts as recognized authorities in the aerospace industry through strategic thought leadership programs.
- Establish and maintain strong relationships with key media, journalists, influencers, industry associations, and external stakeholders in Canada and the United States.
- Lead internal communications and employee engagement initiatives to support organizational alignment, corporate culture, and corporate social responsibility (CSR) objectives.
- Collaborate with business leaders and multidisciplinary teams to develop compelling narratives showcasing company achievements, customer successes, innovation, and industry trends.
- Support integrated communication campaigns, ensuring public relations activities align with digital communications, social media, marketing, and corporate branding initiatives.
- Monitor industry developments, emerging trends, and newsjacking opportunities to increase organizational visibility and positioning as a thought leader.
- Manage media databases, media coverage tracking systems, and accountability tools to measure earned media performance and stakeholder engagement.
- Establish, track, and report on key performance indicators (KPIs) in communications and public relations, providing actionable recommendations and analysis to management.
- Continuously develop and improve communications processes, governance, and workflows to increase team efficiency and operational excellence.
- Lead the development of key messages, communication plans, media materials, press releases, executive communications, and crisis and reputation management initiatives.
- Support strategic public affairs by deploying integrated communication programs that contribute to business and stakeholder objectives.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills.
- Ability to thrive effectively in a dynamic, fast-paced, and sometimes demanding environment.
Here is what is needed to succeed:
- 5 to 7 years in a team management role is an asset.
- Extensive expertise in press relations, with a strong network of contacts in traditional and digital media, and a proven ability to identify elements that make a compelling media story.
- Ability to plan and execute proactive press projects, such as data-driven campaigns or approaches (e.g., trend reports, press tours, partnerships).
- Calm and effective in crisis situations, with an aptitude for quickly adapting action plans.
- Excellent organizational skills and great attention to detail.
- Excellent time management skills and demonstrated ability to meet deadlines.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to prioritize and delegate tasks when required.
- Excellent relationship-building, influencing, and collaboration skills, with the ability to engage key internal and external stakeholders, foster cross-functional alignment, and promote a collaborative culture rather than working in silos.
- English is required for the position as the selected person will regularly communicate with colleagues, clients, or partners located outside of Quebec.
