Summary

The Aviation Technical Services Manager is responsible for strategic leadership, operational supervision, and regulatory compliance of the company's specialized technical services programs across its national and international network. This includes the supervision of Non-Destructive Testing (NDT) services, In-Flight Entertainment and Connectivity (IFEC) systems support (Intelsat/Viasat), FedEx line maintenance support operations in Casper, Wyoming, aircraft drinking water sampling programs, and other specialized technical services.

The incumbent ensures that these technical service lines are operated safely, efficiently, and cost-effectively, while maintaining complete compliance with Transport Canada, FAA, customer, and original equipment manufacturer (OEM) requirements. The position is responsible for the harmonization and standardization of processes across multiple sites, management of technical personnel and subcontractors, development of new service offerings, and support for business growth.

This role acts as a subject matter expert in specialized technical services and works closely with the maintenance operations, quality assurance, continuing airworthiness, maintenance control, procurement, sales, and customer teams to deliver high-quality maintenance support services.

Responsibilities

• Lead all aviation technical services operations across the company's network
• Develop standardized procedures and best practices for specialized maintenance services
• Ensure safe, efficient, and consistent service delivery across all facilities
• Monitor operational performance and resource utilization
• Support the expansion of technical services capabilities to new sites and customer clients
• In collaboration with the Director of Maintenance and the sales team, identify opportunities to expand technical services capabilities through:
  • New offerings intended for customers
  • Integration of emerging technologies
  • Partnerships with original equipment manufacturers
  • Obtaining additional certifications
  • Technical training
  • Equipment investments
  • Process improvement
  • Support for strategic growth initiatives
• Promote a proactive safety culture by:
  • Supporting hazard identification
  • Participating in risk assessments
  • Investigating technical services-related incidents
  • Implementing corrective measures
  • Monitoring safety trends
  • Participating in health and safety committee meetings
  • Supporting change management activities
• Ensure compliance with the following requirements:

  • Approved maintenance organization procedures
  • Customer maintenance requirements

• Provide leadership and supervision to technical specialists, notably:

Requirements

Education

• Aircraft Maintenance Engineer (AME) license, an asset.
• College diploma or university degree in aeronautical maintenance, engineering, aviation management, or a related field, an asset.

Experience and Requirements

• Minimum of 10 years of experience in aeronautical maintenance.
• Minimum of 5 years of experience in a supervisory or management role.
• Experience in managing specialized technical services in the aviation field.
• Experience within a Transport Canada-certified Approved Maintenance Organization (AMO).
• Experience working with FAA regulatory requirements is an asset.
• Experience managing multiple operating sites.
• Experience managing customer contracts and vendor relationships.
