We are seeking a Tooling Engineer to support FTAI's aeroderivative engine development program. In this role you will design specialized tooling, support new-make parts, and provide manufacturing input early in the design process to ensure efficient and repeatable production. You will work closely with design, manufacturing and shop floor teams from concept through production.
Responsibilities
- Design and develop specialized tooling for manufacturing, assembly, inspection, and maintenance of aeroderivative engine components.
- Collaborate with design engineers to ensure new part concepts are manufacturable and aligned with tooling and production capabilities.
- Support the introduction of new part designs, including development of fixtures, jigs, gauges, lifting devices, and shop aids.
- Create detailed technical documentation such as CAD models, drawings, specifications, and work instructions.
- Validate tooling through fit checks, capability studies, and verification of compliance with engineering requirements.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Aeronautical Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, or an equivalent discipline from an accredited university.
- Five to ten years of relevant industry experience in tooling or manufacturing engineering, ideally within aerospace or advanced manufacturing.
- Experience with complex GD&T and application of DFM/DFA/DFX principles.
- Familiarity with part and assembly quality inspection processes.
- Experience with additive manufacturing (3D printing) technologies.
- Ability to interpret complex engineering drawings and technical specifications.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint).
- Familiarity with CAD software such as SolidWorks, Siemens NX, or CATIA.
- Strong project management capabilities.
- Excellent analytical skills and strong teamwork abilities.
- Intermediate level of English is necessary to communicate with other company locations, partners and clients outside Quebec, and to read and produce documentation in English as needed.
