About the role

Lockheed Martin Canada Inc. (Lockheed Martin) is the leading specialized Combat Systems Integrator (CSI) in advanced, large-scale integration projects in Canada. We leverage advanced engineering practices and modern technologies to design, develop, and integrate combat systems for warships. We are looking for motivated, high-performing individuals with specific skills to join our dynamic Naval Programs team.

The Naval Programs team is responsible for technical planning, design, construction, systems integration, verification and validation, cost and risk analysis, sustainability analysis, and overall system effectiveness. As part of the product development of an overall system, participation includes: design, manufacturing, testing, installation, operation, maintenance, and disposal. The team ensures the logical and systematic conversion of customer or product requirements into overall system solutions that consider technical, financial, and time constraints.

The Naval Programs team is present at Lockheed Martin's main project locations in Canada (Kanata, Montreal, Dartmouth); job opportunities are available at all these locations to support naval combat system programs and proposal capture activities.

As a Systems Engineer and member of the naval development team working in a multidisciplinary team environment, the candidate participates in the full engineering lifecycle including specification, design, development, integration and testing, deployment, maintenance, and field troubleshooting in connection with large-scale and highly complex naval platform systems.

The candidate will participate in engineering activities that may include, but are not limited to, the following tasks:

Collaborate on system design activities with the principal systems engineer and other engineering staff, such as supporting technical reviews
Conduct needs analyses
Conduct market research
Review requirements, their allocation, and market studies
Perform system modeling and design, including model-based systems engineering
Define and track technical performance measures
Work on system architecture and design
Plan system integration
Create the design document
Apply system design engineering processes and best practices.

What you bring to the position

Hold a bachelor's degree from a recognized university in a related discipline or equivalent co-op education, with at least five years of professional experience, OR at least three years of professional experience with a related master's degree.

Additional desired skills for the position

At least five years of relevant professional experience. Any equivalent combination of experience and education will be considered
Experience with software, systems, hardware, or maintenance engineering lifecycle
Ability to communicate effectively with technical and non-technical staff in the engineering and management team, as well as with staff assigned to related tasks
Aptitude for solving difficult problems within a team environment
High degree of initiative and autonomy
High learning capacity
Ability to adapt and perform in a dynamic environment
Good knowledge of SysML or other object-oriented design methods
Good knowledge of JIRA, Confluence, Dynamic Object-Oriented Requirements System (DOORS), Cameo, Clearcase, Clearquest, or Windchill
Experience with Agile methods
Experience in the military naval domain
Experience in change management, requirements management, testing and trials, security, safety, electromagnetic interference, electromagnetic compatibility, or environmental qualification.

Language requirements in Quebec

Knowledge of English is required for this position so that the candidate can perform all of their duties. The position described in this job offer requires the candidate to communicate daily with a virtual team outside Quebec. The candidate will also need to communicate with different members of the organization, clients, and suppliers located outside Canada. For engineering positions, the candidate will also need to be able to read or modify technical documents from our main clients and write technical documents for these same clients.

$95,000 - $124,500
