Senior Systems Integration and Test Engineer - Certification

About the role

• Develop the certification baseline and establish compliance strategies for the River and Fleet class destroyer
• Provide technical oversight and support for the certification program for the River and Fleet class destroyers
• Determine regulatory and classification society requirements and decompose rules and guidance documents for various integrated product engineering teams
• Communicate with product integration teams and product stakeholders to define scope of work, schedule, design details, risks and other factors affecting certification
• Work with technical product integration teams to develop technical specifications, system designs and system-specific certification plans to support Lloyd's Register design assessment and warship safety certification
• Review system development, architecture, use cases, functional diagrams, wiring diagrams and equipment arrangements to confirm certification system requirements are met and communicate required conceptual changes to the design team
• Identify potential certification risks and issues and communicate relevant information to affected engineering disciplines
• Prepare, review and approve certification documentation including system-specific certification plans, technical white papers, technical safety justification reports, deviations and waivers, and test plans and reports
• Prepare and review certification documentation to demonstrate compliance with applicable rules and regulations
• Review subcontractor technical documentation supporting ship certification deliverables
• Engage with naval certification authorities and Lloyd's Register classification society, as required
• Perform systems engineering activities including requirements analysis, requirements derivation and traceability management, systems architecture design, and systems verification and validation
• Design tools as required to track deliverables, tests and compliance results to ensure certification tasks are completed on schedule
• Support development of technical change proposals, estimate bases and assessments of cost and schedule impact
• Define technical performance measures and monitor them

What you bring

• Bachelor's degree from a recognized university in software, electrical, electronic, hardware, systems, chemical or mechanical engineering, or a related discipline
• At least five (5) years' experience in a systems engineer role
• Equivalent combinations of education and experience will be considered
• Ability to communicate effectively in English (written and oral). Bilingualism in English and French is an asset
• Ability to read, review and design technical schematics, technical specifications and engineering drawings
• Experience with systems engineering processes including requirements analysis, requirements derivation and traceability management, systems architecture development, configuration management and requirements verification
• Prior engineering or certification experience in naval or aerospace certification
• Ability to prioritize and solve problems effectively
• Ability to work independently and as a team member
• Strong organizational and leadership skills
• Ability to plan, adapt and thrive in a dynamic, schedule-driven environment

Additional desired skills

• Experience integrating naval and maritime electronic mission systems
• Experience with sensors and effectors for warships
• Experience managing requirements using DOORS (IBM Rational)
• Experience with JIRA methodologies for resource management and task planning
• Knowledge of design standards and verification methods for naval systems and equipment
• Detailed knowledge of applying Lloyd's rules for warships and merchant ships, ANEP 77 warship code and IMO regulations in a new ship construction program
• Experience with other international shipbuilding and certification standards is an asset

Salary transparency and range

Lockheed Martin Canada adheres to salary transparency requirements. Salary range: $119,000 - $156,000
