Reporting to the Associate Director of Pratt & Whitney's global network infrastructure services, the Network Engineer is responsible for designing, implementing and managing the company's network to ensure fast, reliable and secure digital communications. The role involves collaborating with multidisciplinary teams to innovate and transform the network infrastructure. The position favors in-person collaboration and full-time onsite work.
Responsibilities
- Work with project teams to capture and document requirements and propose solutions for the physical and logical network layers.
- Configure network equipment for offices and industrial networks (switches, firewalls, access points, wireless controllers, monitoring tools) using infrastructure automation tools (infrastructure as code).
- Propose improvements and act as technical lead to modernize infrastructure with internal and external partners.
- Update network hardware and software to ensure compliance.
- Coordinate and manage small network infrastructure projects.
- Provide level 3 support to resolve complex issues.
- Ensure alignment with corporate standards and cybersecurity compliance.
Requirements
Candidates must have strong knowledge of network architecture, network security, engineering and operations:
- WLAN, LAN, WAN, DDI, VPN, proxy
- Web hosting zone / DMZ
- Firewalls
- Data center networking
- Cloud networking (AWS, Azure)
- Network segmentation — micro and macro
- SDN, Cisco DNA, Cisco ISE
- Cisco certification
- Scripting and code for automation
- Physical and logical architecture diagrams in Draw.io and Visio format
- More than 5 years of experience in designing and implementing large-scale networks
- Excellent communication and collaboration skills
- Strong analytical and diagnostic skills
- Travel as needed to the North Shore and South Shore of Montreal; occasional trips to other Canadian sites
This position is part of a French-speaking work environment; it requires a very good knowledge of English to read and understand technical documentation and to write and communicate with international customers, suppliers, and colleagues.
