About the Role

The Naval Programs team is present at Lockheed Martin Canada's main project sites (Kanata, Montreal, Dartmouth); job opportunities are available at all sites to support naval combat systems program activities and proposal capture.

As a system engineer member of the subsystem of the naval development team in a multidisciplinary team environment, they participate in the complete engineering lifecycle, specification, design, development, integration and testing, deployment, maintenance, and field troubleshooting of the subsystem for which they are responsible, which is part of large-scale and highly complex naval platform systems. Subsystems are grouped by warfare domain: Anti-Air and Anti-Surface Warfare (AWW); Undersea Warfare (UWW); Electronic Warfare (EW) and Communications.

The candidate will become a Subject Matter Expert (SME) and a lead system engineer member for Anti-Air/Anti-Surface Warfare (AWW) subsystems, and will participate in engineering activities, including the following:

• Collaborate on system requirements establishment and market research activities with engineering and program personnel during the proposal capture development phase:
  • Define or derive subsystem level requirements from customer requirements
  • Participate in naval military industry survey and selection of potentially viable subsystem solutions that will meet customer expectations
  • Evaluate compliance requirements, technical performance, and technical risk of potential subsystem solutions
  • Recommend the right subsystem solution based on market research.
• Participate in needs analysis
• Participate in system modeling and design
• Participate in defining and tracking technical performance metrics
• Participate in system architecture and design
• Participate in system integration planning
• Participate in the creation of design documents
• Participate in verification and validation activities
• Apply system engineering processes as well as best practices.

What you bring to the role

Required skills, qualifications and experience

• The incumbent must have a bachelor's degree from a recognized university in software, mechanical, electrical, electronic, hardware or systems engineering, or a related discipline.
• At least five years of relevant professional experience with AWW subsystems:
  
  • Radar systems (surveillance, fire control)
  • Friend/Foe Interrogation (IFF)
  • Electro-Optical/Infra-Red (EOIR) sensor
  • Cannons
  • Missiles
• An equivalent combination of experience or education will be considered
• Communicate effectively with technical and non-technical staff from the engineering and management team as well as with staff assigned to related tasks
• Possess an ability to solve difficult problems within a team environment
• A high degree of initiative or autonomy
• A high learning capacity
• An ability to adapt and perform functions in a dynamic environment.

Additional skills desired for the position

ASSETS:

• Experience in software, systems, hardware or maintenance engineering lifecycle
• Good knowledge of SysML or other object-oriented design methods
• Good knowledge of DOORS, Cameo, ClearCase, ClearQuest or Windchill
• Experience with Agile methods, JIRA or other similar tool
• Experience in the military naval domain
• Experience in sensor, weapon or ship integration
• Experience in subcontract management or supply chain management
• Experience in change management, requirements management, testing, security, safety, electromagnetic interference (EMI)/electromagnetic compatibility (EMC) or environmental qualification.

Language requirements in Quebec

Knowledge of English is required for this position so that the candidate can perform all of their duties. The position described in this job offer requires the candidate to communicate daily with a virtual team outside of Quebec. The candidate will also need to communicate with various members of the organization, clients, and suppliers located outside of Canada. For engineering positions, the candidate will also need to be able to read or modify technical documents from our main clients and write technical documents for these same clients.

Salary Transparency

Salary Range

$95,000 - $124,500
