Occasional Flight Respiratory Therapist
Gateway to a career in aeromedical care
Status: Casual
Workplace: mobile across all our bases, supporting northern communities and international operations
Initial departure points: Saint-Hubert, Quebec, Baie-Comeau, Sept-Iles
STEP INTO A CLINICAL UNIVERSE THAT BREAKS THE MOLD
At Airmedic, being a flight respiratory therapist is not just another job. It means joining a specialized aeromedical environment where critical care, mobility, clinical autonomy, and adaptability truly matter.
It is also a concrete opportunity to enter a rare niche in Quebec, develop highly distinctive expertise, and, for those who wish, evolve toward more senior full-time positions within the organization.
In a context of growth and expansion of our activities in Quebec and northern communities, we are looking for occasional flight respiratory therapists ready to embark on an extraordinary practice.
WHAT YOU WILL EXPERIENCE WITH US
You will participate in interhospital transports, with adult and pediatric clienteles, in contexts where your clinical judgment makes a real difference.
You will also contribute to supporting northern communities, in collaboration with remote areas requiring frontline, emergency, and stabilization care.
Specifically, this role will lead you to:
- Participate in the care of patients in complex and unstable clinical contexts;
- Intervene in varied, demanding, and constantly evolving environments;
- Collaborate closely with an engaged interdisciplinary team;
- Develop rare expertise in medical evacuation and repatriation.
WHY THIS JOB IS DIFFERENT
This casual position is not a parallel path. It is a genuine gateway into the aeromedical world.
At Airmedic, we want to build an ecosystem where talents can develop, gain field experience, and evolve within the organization. For individuals demonstrating strong commitment, clinical rigor, and the ability to perform in our environment, this role can open the door to progression opportunities toward more senior and eventually full-time positions.
In other words: you are not just coming to do missions. You are coming to build niche expertise.
HOW THE CASUAL STATUS WORKS
Casual status at Airmedic can take two forms, depending on your availability and lifestyle:
On-demand: You are contacted occasionally by text message when an operational need arises. You can also submit your availability in advance, allowing us to plan missions taking your schedule into account.
In northern positioning: You leave on deployment for blocks of 7 or 14 consecutive days in our northern bases. Accommodation and travel to the bases are covered by Airmedic for the entire duration of the deployment.
Two ways to get involved. One single goal: be there when it counts.
THE PROFILE WE ARE LOOKING FOR
We are looking for professionals who love lively, demanding, and human environments. People capable of keeping a cool head when things move, thinking fast without rushing, and working as a team without misplaced ego.
You could be an excellent fit if you are:
- Positive, mobilizing, and recognized for your relational skills;
- Capable of showing openness and flexibility;
- Comfortable with uncertainty, ambiguity, and emergency and/or intensive care situations;
- Rigorous, ethical, and focused on quality and safety;
- Solid in your clinical judgment and your ability to make decisions in complex contexts;
- Collaborative and teamwork-oriented.
YOUR BACKGROUND
We are looking for candidates possessing:
- DEC in respiratory therapy and anesthesia techniques;
- A minimum of 3 years of experience in critical care and/or emergency;
- Up-to-date BLS training;
- OPIQ license;
WHAT WE OFFER YOU
Beyond the position, Airmedic offers you a practice that few organizations can propose.
You will have the opportunity to:
- Discover a specialized respiratory therapist practice that is rarely accessible elsewhere;
- Concretely contribute to care offered in remote regions and northern communities;
- Work with an aircraft fleet and state-of-the-art medical equipment;
- Evolve in a growing company developing its own niche in Quebec;
- Join a passionate, committed, and deeply field-oriented team.
We also offer:
- The opportunity for a 7-day or 14-day consecutive schedule according to your availability;
- Accommodation and travel to other bases during deployments;
- Competitive compensation;
- A human, mobilizing, and action-oriented work environment;
- The real possibility of making your mark in an exceptional clinical sector.
WANT TO STEP OUTSIDE THE BOX?
If you are looking for more than just a shift.
If you want to practice differently.
If you want to enter a niche, demanding, stimulating field and have the opportunity to grow in it.
Airmedic could well be your next mission!
