What your daily routine will look like
The turbine department is looking for CNC machinists. As a CNC machinist at Pratt & Whitney, you will set up, operate, and adjust a wide range of numerically controlled machine tools – including lathes, grinders, milling machines, electrical discharge machining machines, and laser cutting machines – to machine new parts and repair worn parts.
To do this, you will need to:
- Work from drawings, standard work directives, rough drafts, and verbal instructions from the supervisor or team leader
- Perform visual and dimensional inspections of parts using precision measuring instruments such as gauges and coordinate measuring machines
You will also provide support for quality management, equipment maintenance, and material turnover. To this end, you will have to:
- Keep logbooks up to date
- Perform simple deburring
- Make detail installations such as bushings and nuts
- Wash, store, pack, and move parts
You will demonstrate your commitment to excellence and help create a world-class manufacturing environment:
- Ensure that part standards and specifications are met
- Organize and keep your workstation in order
- Comply with our high standards regarding occupational health and safety
You will develop your skills and work closely with your colleagues to improve the work environment:
- Participate in practical training to improve your current skills and acquire new skills
- Share your knowledge and best practices with other team members
- Contribute to the development of new parts or procedures for specific methods and tools
What you need to succeed
Requirements
- Diploma of Vocational Studies (DVS) in machining techniques
- ASP Machining on numerically controlled machine tools
- DEC in mechanical engineering or aerospace engineering
- Ability to work in a team
- This position is part of a French-speaking work environment, however it requires a basic knowledge of English to understand certain specialized work instructions, drawings, and technical terms that may emanate from international organizations.
