Machinist Inspector - Automated Production Line, Advanced Manufacturing Center

What your day will look like

Main responsibilities

Work environment

• We primarily produce the turbines and compressors for the GTF engine program, used on the Airbus A320neo & A220 as well as the Embraer E2.
• Highly automated production line combining advanced robotics and closed-door machining technologies, unique in the world.
• Work within a skilled and passionate team ready to share knowledge and collaborate closely to improve the work environment.

Production responsibilities

• Ensure optimal production of equipment, machines and tools.
• Analyze work, identify production requirements and anticipate special requirements related to production difficulties.
• Diagnose production indicators and statistical data and perform operation cycles to run multiple machines or processes simultaneously, internal or external to the advanced manufacturing center.
• Maintain and optimally control production flow and part inventories.
• Perform adjustments, settings and alignments required for tools, equipment and precision measuring instruments.
• Take required actions to maintain production pace to meet on-time delivery to customers.

Maintenance responsibilities

• Perform first-level diagnostics to identify the source of problems, intervene and/or coordinate interventions of support groups. Apply equipment and robotics/networking knowledge as the first responder.
• Apply maintenance plans for equipment/processes, perform autonomous maintenance routines and minor maintenance work such as maintaining fluid/media/acid levels; inspection, cleaning and lubrication of parts and gauges; minor repairs of machinery, tooling and mechanical equipment; and provide support during interventions.
• Use various systems and technologies such as machine and automated line interfaces, dashboards, ESS system, tooling/maintenance/consumables management systems and any other IT systems required for proper operation of the advanced manufacturing center.

Overall quality responsibilities

• Validate conformity to the quality plan by performing dimensional and visual checks on parts and tools according to the sampling plan.
• Proactively analyze indicators. Investigate repetitive root causes. Recommend, lead, implement and follow up on preventive or corrective actions as well as work techniques and methods.
• Use mechanisms such as ANDON to signal events that impede work progress according to standards.
• Apply calibration routines and ensure tooling integrity by maintaining appropriate records.
• Document all requirements related to the overall quality plan.
• Initiate and lead quality clinics to meet overall yield targets.
• Validate that parts meet all required standards and specifications.

Related duties

May be required to perform various tasks or operations such as ATTI verification, shot peening, blasting, polishing, cleaning by various chemical and mechanical processes, simple deburring, masking and unmasking of parts and/or miscellaneous items to ensure continuous material flow. Additionally, tasks external to the AFC may include balancing, inspection and packaging.

What you need to succeed

Requirements

• Diploma of vocational studies (DEP) in machining techniques.
• ASP in machining on CNC machine tools.
• DEC in mechanical engineering or aerospace engineering.
• Ability to work as part of a team.
• This position is within a French-speaking work environment, however a basic knowledge of English is required to understand certain specialized work instructions, drawings and technical terms that may come from international organizations.

Asset:
