What your day-to-day will look like

  • Work from instructions, service request sheets and established processes for preventive, predictive and corrective maintenance and various mechanical repair tasks on equipment and machinery.
  • Install and assemble equipment according to operational needs.
  • Propose and implement modifications to upgrade various equipment and machinery.
  • Perform diagnostics to identify the source of problems, disassemble equipment down to defective parts and maintain system integrity.
  • Investigate repetitive causes of failures or breakages and recommend effective corrective methods.
  • Determine the location and layout of materials.
  • Estimate the scope of tasks and materials required for repairs or replacements and coordinate work with other trades.
  • Install, replace, repair, adjust and align parts of various equipment and machinery such as machine tools, pneumatic tools, pumps, blowers, frames and external components of ventilation and filtration systems on machines.
  • Use different types of welding and operate various machine tools to fabricate equipment parts.
  • Conduct testing of devices and ensure their performance meets specifications and operational needs.
  • Maintain, repair, modify, install, test and diagnose mechanical issues of CNC machines and other equipment.
  • Use appropriate tools and instruments to verify parameters, adjustments and calibration to ensure proper operation.
  • Identify, source and prepare orders or shipments of spare parts, ready-to-assemble kits and repairable components needed to complete work.
  • Receive and move materials, parts and other equipment to designated locations.
  • Operate various mobile equipment and motorized vehicles such as forklifts and aerial work platforms.
  • Ensure the work area is properly secured and perform equipment lockout/tagout according to procedures.

What you need to succeed

  • Completion of a DEP (vocational diploma) in Industrial Mechanics.
  • Experience with predictive analysis equipment and machine condition monitoring.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and analytical mindset.
  • Ability to read mechanical, hydraulic and pneumatic drawings.
  • Interpersonal skills: teamwork and a positive attitude.
  • Familiarity with computer systems, Windows operating system and Microsoft Office suite.
  • Good manual skills and dexterity.
  • Good visual and auditory acuity.
  • Rigor, thoroughness, precision and attention to detail.
  • Observational skills and initiative.
  • Ability to adapt to frequent technological changes.
  • This position is in a French-speaking work environment; however, basic English is required to understand certain specialized work instructions, drawings and technical terms that may come from international organizations.
