What your day-to-day will look like
- Work from instructions, service request sheets and established processes for preventive, predictive and corrective maintenance and various mechanical repair tasks on equipment and machinery.
- Install and assemble equipment according to operational needs.
- Propose and implement modifications to upgrade various equipment and machinery.
- Diagnose to identify the problem source, disassemble equipment down to defective parts and maintain component integrity.
- Investigate recurring causes of breakdowns and recommend effective corrective methods.
- Determine location and layout of materials.
- Estimate the scope of tasks and required materials for repairs or replacements and organize work in collaboration with other trades.
- Install, replace, repair, adjust and align parts of various equipment and machinery such as machine tools, pneumatic tools, pumps, blowers, frames and external ventilation and filtration system components on machines.
- Use various types of welding, measure and operate different machine tools to manufacture equipment parts.
- Conduct device tests and ensure their performance meets specifications and operational needs.
- Maintain, repair, modify, install, test and diagnose mechanical problems of CNC machines and other equipment.
- Use appropriate tools and equipment to check parameters, adjustments and calibrations to ensure proper functioning.
- Identify, source and prepare orders or shipments of spare parts, kits and repairable components necessary to perform the work.
- Receive and move materials, parts and other equipment to designated locations.
- Operate various mobile equipment and motorized vehicles such as forklifts and work platforms.
- Properly secure the work area and perform equipment lockout/tagout according to procedures.
What you need to succeed
- Diploma of Vocational Studies (DEP) in industrial mechanics
- Experience with predictive analysis equipment and machine condition monitoring
- Strong problem-solving skills and analytical mindset
- Proficiency in reading mechanical, hydraulic and pneumatic drawings
- Interpersonal skills: teamwork and positive attitude
- Familiarity with computer systems, Windows OS and Microsoft Office
- Good manual skills and dexterity
- Good visual and auditory acuity
- Rigour, thoroughness, precision and attention to detail
- Observational skills and initiative
- Ability to adapt to many technological changes
- This position is based in a French-speaking workplace; a basic knowledge of English is required to understand some specialized work instructions, drawings and technical terms from international organizations.
