Shift Premium: Night - $2.50 for each hour worked between 11 PM and 7 AM
Skills Premium: $150.00 per month for eligible employees, subject to the requirements of the applicable collective agreement.

Air Canada is currently seeking a dynamic individual to fill a permanent full-time position as a Ground Support Equipment Mechanic.

The Ground Support Equipment Maintenance Specialist must:

  • Ensure preventive maintenance and repairs are carried out safely for various types of equipment used in ground operations at airports, in accordance with applicable regulations and codes.
  • Good knowledge of powertrains and diesel or gasoline engines. Practical knowledge of hydraulic and electrical systems, metal product manufacturing, and welding, an asset.
  • Must be able to understand various troubleshooting schematics and be proficient in computer skills and diagnostic tools.
  • Must have team spirit and written and oral communication skills; customer-oriented and able to work in a demanding environment.

Qualifications

  • Holder of a CPA competency card: Level 1, 2, or 3 mechanic
  • At least one (1) year of experience in the trade.
  • Successfully pass the pre-employment qualification test.
  • High school diploma.
  • Demonstrate punctuality and reliability to support the overall success of the team in a fast-paced environment.
  • Employees holding this safety-sensitive position must meet Air Canada's medical requirements to be eligible. Candidates will be subject to a medical evaluation, including a drug and alcohol test, and must not be under the influence of intoxicating substances.
  • Must be able to obtain and maintain all applicable transport security clearances and other additional accreditations. Please refer to Transport Canada's website for more details.
  • Candidates must be eligible to work in the country concerned at the time a job offer is presented and are responsible for obtaining work permits, visas, or other necessary authorizations. Proof of eligibility must be provided before the start date.

Assets

  • Interprovincial Qualification (Red Seal)
  • Certificates or licenses related to trades, such as: advanced fuel injection and diesel engine tune-up, air conditioning and refrigeration, and automotive inspection.
  • Experience in the maintenance of mobile ground power units (generators), air conditioners (up to 110 tons), pneumatic units (compressors up to 250 cu ft/min), but experience in agricultural or heavy equipment maintenance will also be considered.
