Shift Premium: Night - $2.50 for each hour worked between 11 PM and 7 AM.

Air Canada is currently seeking a dynamic individual to fill a permanent, full-time position as a Ground Equipment Mechanic.

The Ground Equipment Maintenance Specialist must:

  • Ensure preventive maintenance and repairs in a safe manner for various types of equipment used in ground operations at airports, in accordance with applicable regulations and codes.
  • Good knowledge of power trains and diesel or gasoline engines. Practical knowledge of hydraulic and electrical systems, metal product manufacturing, and welding is an asset.
  • Must be able to understand various troubleshooting schematics and be proficient in computers and diagnostic tools.
  • Must have team spirit and written and oral communication skills; customer-oriented and able to work in a demanding environment.

Qualifications

  • Holder of a CPA competency card: Level 1, 2, or 3 mechanic
  • At least one (1) year of experience in the trade.
  • Pass the pre-employment qualification test.
  • High school diploma.
  • Demonstrate punctuality and reliability to support the team's overall success in a fast-paced environment.
  • Employees occupying this safety-sensitive position must meet Air Canada's medical requirements to be eligible. Candidates will be subject to a medical evaluation, including a drug and alcohol screening test, and must not be under the influence of intoxicants.
  • Must be able to obtain and maintain all transportation security clearances and other applicable additional accreditations. Please refer to Transport Canada's website for more details.
  • Candidates must be eligible to work in the country concerned at the time a job offer is presented and are responsible for obtaining work permits, visas, or other necessary authorizations. Proof of eligibility must be provided before the start date.

Assets

  • Interprovincial qualification (Red Seal)
  • Certificates or licenses related to the trades, such as: advanced fuel injection and diesel engine tuning, air conditioning and refrigeration, and automotive inspection.
  • Experience in the maintenance of mobile ground power units (generators), air conditioners (up to 110 tons), pneumatic units (compressors up to 250 cu ft/min), but experience in agricultural or heavy equipment maintenance will also be considered.
