Responsibilities

• Determines the method for repairing equipment by referring to appropriate documents such as blueprints, diagrams, requests, work instructions, etc. Repair includes mechanical, hydraulic, and welding work (various processes) but excludes electrical repair.
• Diagnoses equipment problems according to known methods and manufacturer manuals.
• Performs repairs on equipment, buildings, and tools to meet manufacturer specifications. Checks operation during and at the end of operations and makes necessary adjustments so that the repair meets requested standards.
• Installs new equipment according to requested specifications.
• Performs maintenance operations on equipment and buildings which include periodic inspection of equipment, systematic replacement of parts or parts of parts, repair, and restart after a breakdown according to a predetermined schedule.
• Repairs small mechanical, hydraulic, pneumatic, and electrical tools according to specifications.
• Recommends modifications to equipment in order to optimize its efficiency (e.g., cost, time, reliability, safety) and makes the modifications.
• Procures necessary material according to work instructions.
• Cleans the work environment as well as the repaired equipment.
• Acts as first responder on site during environmental emergencies and fires. Determines the method to control the situation according to work instructions and performs, with the help of employees as needed, the tasks necessary to restore the situation and completely correct the emergency.
• Must be reachable at all times during working hours by the communication means (e.g., pager, telephone) provided to perform their responder work.
• Completes documents necessary for their work.
• Trains employees in activities related to their work at the request of their immediate supervisor.

Profile Sought

• DEP in industrial construction and maintenance mechanics and one year of industrial mechanics experience. or
• DEC in maintenance analysis and welding courses and six months of experience. or
• CEP in industrial mechanics and one year of experience. or
• ACE in industrial mechanics and one year of experience. or
• DEP in automated system electromechanics and 1 year of experience in mechanics
