This is a Hybrid role in Halifax NS.
Position Summary
The Warehouse Operator is primarily responsible for the timely and efficient flow of materials through the warehouse and in the dockyard to support ship maintenance activity. Duties include processing receipts, fulfilling shipping requirements, inventory control tasks and routing materials to/from the dockyard for maintenance work.
Special Position Requirements
Schedule: Core Business Hours Monday–Friday, 07:30–16:00.
Physical Environment: Warehouse.
Regulatory Compliance Requirements

- Access to trade-controlled hardware, software and technical information.
- Eligibility for the Canadian Controlled Goods Program (including ITAR-controlled articles).
- Ability to obtain a NATO Secret security clearance.
Key Areas of Responsibility
The incumbent is responsible for ensuring effective and timely execution of logistics activities to provide an uninterrupted flow of goods and services required by the organization. Key responsibilities include:
- Receiving: verify and inspect incoming material and documentation, process receipts and track shipments.
- Shipping: prepare domestic, US and international outgoing freight in accordance with packaging specifications; complete documentation and labeling; comply with customs and export requirements.
- Process requisitions: issue, pick, package and move material; distribute parts for customer delivery.
- Locate and store inventory in designated and approved storage areas in accordance with hazardous goods and statutory regulations.
- Inventory control: cycle counting, stocktaking and investigations.
- Monitor stocking levels and shelf-life inventory; review and recommend adjustments.
- Accurate and timely data entry into the Inventory Management System to update material activity and status.
- Participate in continuous improvement initiatives and attend related meetings.
- Prepare and generate warehouse reports, maintain registers and record keeping.
- Operate delivery vehicles, forklifts and other material handling equipment; load and unload transport vehicles and containers.
- Maintain general housekeeping and cleanliness in work areas.
- Other duties as assigned by Management.
- Support KPIs for the role in coordination with the Warehouse Manager and monitor role performance against industry best practices.
- Support implementation of improved SAP functionality to improve logistics efficiencies.
- Ensure compliance with company policies and recommend procedural changes to enhance department effectiveness and efficiency.
- Support activities to ensure compliance with ISO quality accreditation and defense regulatory requirements.
- Maintain an ethical approach to tasks and relationships in accordance with Thales policies.
Basic Qualifications
- Minimum 3–5 years of relevant experience in a logistics/warehouse environment.
- Strong attention to detail, ability to multi-task and work autonomously.
- Proven warehouse and logistics experience in a fast-paced environment.
- Previous experience using SAP or other ERP systems.
- Ability to prioritize tasks and meet deadlines in high-pressure environments.
- Knowledge of the U.S. International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR) and the Canadian Export and Import Permits Act.
- Open-minded, able to listen and share ideas while contributing innovation and added value.
- Proficient in MS Office.
- Excellent communication and people skills.
- Familiarity with Occupational Health, Safety & Environment policies and procedures.
- Experience with the Defence Resource Management Information System (DRMIS) is an asset.
All applicants must be able to obtain a Canadian NATO Secret clearance and meet the eligibility requirements outlined in the Canadian Controlled Goods Registration Program and ITAR.
Preferred Qualifications
- Grade 12 minimum with strong computer skills.
- Experience with warehouse operations and material management software systems.
- Previous experience in the defense industry is an asset.
- Forklift license or experience.
- Valid provincial driver's license.
- Training in Transportation of Dangerous Goods and WHMIS.
Physical Demands
This role is physically demanding: lifting up to 22 kg (50 lbs) and walking or standing for the majority of the shift is required.

The reference Total Target Compensation (TTC) market range for this position, inclusive of annual base salary and the variable compensation target, is: Total Target Cash 58,000.00 - 72,500.00 CAD Annual. This reflects how companies in a similar industry and geographic region generally pay for similar jobs. Placement within this range depends on factors such as career history, competencies, skills, performance and company budget. Thales may offer additional benefits and other compensation depending on circumstances not related to protected status.
