Would you like to contribute to the next chapter of Air Canada's story? The Partner - Financial Analysis plays a key role in driving the company's financial performance by participating in financial control and forecasting activities related to fuel costs. The person in this role provides strategic insights, financial modeling and actionable recommendations. They will participate in discussions with senior leaders and executive management as needed. The successful candidate will ensure that the quality of service provided remains high at all times in terms of timeliness and accuracy.
Responsibilities
- Provide financial leadership and support to Air Canada's Fuel leadership in the ongoing management of its business activities, including planning, budgeting and forecasting. This requires a strong understanding of the dynamics of fuel sourcing, pricing and consumption. The incumbent must stay informed of economic and industry developments.
- Develop and implement financial performance indicators to better understand cause-and-effect relationships among various costs and to ensure the division's efficiency and effectiveness.
- Deliver value-added service to internal clients by identifying and assessing opportunities and strategies to improve profitability, internal process changes and new cost-saving opportunities. This includes coordinating with Fuel Accounting activities to ensure and improve result accuracy.
- Working with senior teams, develop and recommend financial goals, objectives and strategies aligned with the Company's overall financial plan, including environmental, social and governance (ESG) initiatives.
- Monitor and analyze the Fuel division's financial performance against forecasts and ensure corrective actions are taken when necessary. Conduct post-project or program evaluations, where applicable, to compare expected results with actual outcomes.
- Work with various client groups within Finance and across the Company to guide, develop or improve processes, models and decision-making tools. Build strong relationships with internal clients and work closely with them to drive improved financial outcomes.
- Acquire and maintain in-depth knowledge of the activities, issues and trends applicable to the air transport sector, in Canada and internationally, as well as aircraft profitability.
- Prepare complex benchmarking analyses against other carriers.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in finance and five to eight years of relevant experience.
- Graduate studies (MBA or finance) or a professional finance designation (CPA, CMA, CGA, CFA) are a definite asset.
- Excellent understanding of cost accounting principles, financial valuation techniques and statistical analysis.
- Strong business acumen and analytical mindset.
- Solid financial modeling skills.
- Proven leadership, initiative, creativity and strong financial and technical abilities.
- Ability to work a flexible schedule and manage multiple projects of varying scope simultaneously.
- Demonstrated project management skills.
- Strong interest in the air transport sector and industry experience.
- High level of initiative and outstanding work ethic.
- Excellent interpersonal skills and proven ability to work collaboratively with peers.
- Strong organizational skills and ability to reprioritize and perform under pressure.
- Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, Access and PowerPoint) and Power BI (optional).
- Punctuality and reliability to support overall team success in a fast-paced environment.
