The Compensation Partner acts as a trusted advisor to HR leaders and business sectors by providing compensation expertise, market insights, and practical recommendations that support Air Canada's business and talent objectives. In collaboration with the Director - Compensation and Senior Management Services and key stakeholders, the incumbent contributes to the design, implementation, and continuous improvement of compensation policies, programs, and processes. Key areas of responsibility include the Annual Salary Program, market analysis, job evaluation, and salary guidelines. This role also ensures uniform, equitable, and compliant administration of programs, in accordance with the Corporation's compensation philosophy and policies as well as applicable laws.

Responsibilities:

  • Collaborate with the Director - Compensation and Senior Management Services on the design and implementation of competitive compensation policies, programs, and processes, aligned with corporate objectives and supporting the organization's talent management strategy.
  • Implement and administer compensation programs and guidelines in accordance with the Corporation's compensation philosophy, business objectives, and market practices.
  • Proactively improve compensation programs to help management motivate employees, recognize contributions, and foster performance.
  • Advise senior HR executives, HR leaders, and Talent Acquisition teams on compensation decisions that promote talent attraction, motivation, and retention.
  • Provide advisory and compensation services to internal clients.
  • Lead compensation analyses and projects to meet operational needs and support organizational strategies.
  • Administer involuntary departure programs as well as retention and hiring bonuses, ensuring the establishment of and compliance with appropriate guidelines.
  • Conduct job evaluations, communicate results, and maintain supporting documentation.
  • Coordinate activities with Payroll, the HR Centre of Excellence, and other internal stakeholders to support efficient program administration.
  • Participate in salary surveys, analyze market data, and interpret results to substantiate salary recommendations and identify best or emerging practices in compensation.
  • Monitor industry trends and legislative updates, and assess their impact on the Corporation's compensation programs and practices.

Qualifications

  • At least five years of progressive experience in compensation, including compensation program administration, market analysis, and job evaluation.
  • Demonstrated ability to influence and collaborate with stakeholders at all levels, demonstrating sound judgment, tact, and discretion.
  • Strong written and verbal communication and presentation skills, with the ability to explain complex analyses and make clear, evidence-based recommendations.
  • High sense of integrity and discretion in handling confidential and sensitive employee information.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, advanced spreadsheet proficiency, and experience with human resources information systems, databases, and large datasets.
  • Ability to work autonomously, manage multiple priorities, and produce rigorous work within established deadlines in a constantly changing environment.
  • Bachelor's degree in human resources, business administration, finance, mathematics, or a related field.
  • Knowledge of compensation principles and applicable labor laws.
  • Certified Compensation Professional (CCP) designation is an asset.

Conditions of Employment:

Candidates must be eligible to work in the country concerned at the time a job offer is made and are responsible for obtaining work permits, visas, or other necessary authorizations. Proof of eligibility must be provided prior to the start date.
