Role summary

Reporting to the FLX Business Line and integrated into the PMO organization, the PMO Montreal supports and coordinates project support across Canada and provides operational support to strategic offers and projects managed by Thales in Montreal. The role involves structuring, coordinating and tracking project activities, managing funding, and maintaining budget, schedule and performance dashboards. The PMO contributes to structuring new projects in Canada and ensures deliverable performance, budget coherence and compliance with deadlines and reporting obligations in a multi‑partner international context.

Main responsibilities

Support for bids & projects

  • Provide expertise and know‑how to offers and projects to improve performance throughout the lifecycle.
  • Ensure the validity of offer and project data, including oversight.
  • Collect offer/project information and consolidate it into dashboards for monthly reviews.
  • Contribute to preparing responses to calls for tender (bids).
  • Support the setup of new project activities in Canada and act as backup for administration of project management tools (Primavera, Deviprop, etc.).
  • Track internal purchase orders (PO IGTR), validate signatures and follow invoicing with Finance.
  • Improve and maintain core offer and project management practices (PPE), centralize and share best practices, and manage lessons learned processes.

Specific support for R&T Canada projects

  • Provide operational support for extracting and justifying expenses to be claimed.
  • Coordinate collection and validation of supporting documents with Engineering department leads and the R&T Canada lead.
  • Assist with budget management, claims and follow‑up of government payments.
  • Maintain and update R&T tracking dashboards (quarterly reviews).

Cross‑functional tracking and governance

  • Maintain and update schedules (Primavera, MS Project, Timeline Pro).
  • Ensure milestone tracking and completeness of reports.
  • Gather and consolidate key performance indicators for the portfolio (KPI, EVM...).
  • Organize lessons‑learned sessions and coordinate follow‑up actions.
  • Implement and monitor the non‑technical requirements matrix to ensure client compliance.
  • Align S&OP workload needs and resources across offers/projects.

The role directly impacts project performance (budget control, milestone adherence, deliverable quality), helps secure public funding, optimizes reporting for local and group management, and supports the maturation of the project organization in Montreal.

Working closely with Finance, project managers, Engineering leads and other PMO FLX members, the post holder demonstrates leadership in enforcing and following project procedures and indicators. The role also involves managing relationships with external funding bodies and industrial clients in a confidential and demanding environment.

The position requires adaptability, rigor and the ability to propose continuous improvements to management tools, reporting and KPI tracking.

Minimum requirements

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent in project management or a technical discipline.
  • Proven experience (3 to 7 years) as a PMO or in managing complex projects, ideally in industry (aerospace, defense, tech) and in an international environment.
  • Strong command of budget management, planning tools and project reporting (Primavera, MS Project, advanced Excel).
  • Experience with public funding / R&T projects.
  • Ability to coordinate multidisciplinary teams, strong interpersonal skills and diplomacy.
  • Organizational agility, responsiveness and ability to work cross‑functionally.
  • Familiarity with MS Project and Primavera P6 Pro.
  • Excel proficiency; macro/VBA skills are an asset.
  • Experience with quote generation tool (Deviprop).
  • Fluent French and English required (written and spoken).

This position requires a good command of English for drafting technical documents and interacting with international clients, employees, partners and government authorities who do not speak French.

Preferred qualifications

  • International experience; familiarity with Thales and the aircraft manufacturer ecosystem is a plus.
  • IPMA or PMP certification is an asset.
