Job Description

You have experience in design and mechanical systems, have worked in aerospace, and want to grow and develop new skills? This role is for you!

We are looking for a Design & Integration Professional - Fuselage Structures, Door Mechanisms and Compliance to join our Fuselage & Doors Design team based in Mirabel (Québec, Canada). You will work closely with the fuselage design, stress analysis, materials and processes, program, final-line support teams and many others.

You will be part of the Fuselage and Doors structures team responsible for developing innovative solutions for long-term product improvements, supporting the final assembly line and in-service aircraft, while ensuring product regulatory compliance.

As a design integrator, your role will be to conduct trade studies, develop technical solutions, present them at various reviews, and modify and approve engineering documents (2D, 3D, reports).

Key responsibilities

  • Perform a trade study on door infrastructure type, document the investigation, produce reports, and create concepts and 3D models of mechanisms, structure and system installations.
  • Produce engineering cost-impact analyses for the design, collect engineering function costs and enable collection of cost-impact data for all project stakeholders.
  • Manage project execution for changes for which your group will be the owner.
  • Work closely with DAD to ensure compliance with regulations, design principles, processes, methods and applicable manufacturing capability guidelines.
  • Communicate and arbitrate among MFT functions such as stress analysis, systems, manufacturing, structure suppliers, program office, logistics and quality to develop new designs and resolve issues.
  • Set priorities, ensure compliance with change management plans, and implement recovery plans to meet deadlines.
  • Work to reduce non-conformities, analyze root causes and improve efficiency within your area and across the company.

Requirements

Profile:

  • Bachelor's degree or college technical diploma in engineering, aerospace or equivalent, with relevant experience in the design and manufacture of aerospace doors.
  • Strong knowledge of product-related aeronautical regulations, particularly CAR 525.783.
  • Action-oriented with a continuous improvement mindset.
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal and teamwork skills.
  • Demonstrated leadership, judgment, flexibility and initiative; able to work with minimal supervision.
  • Highly committed, able to meet tight deadlines and possess a strong sense of urgency.
  • Solid knowledge of aircraft doors and structures, compliance, detailed design (sheet metal, machined parts, mechanisms and component assembly), system installation, configuration management principles, design for manufacturing, weight control, cost and schedule.
  • Proficient in CATIA design software and the Google suite.
  • Advanced English (spoken and written) and an understanding of French.
