The A220 commercial aircraft program is looking for a candidate to join the Systems Competency Center team based in Mirabel (Quebec, Canada), where you will work with a cross-functional team including Chief Engineering, Program, Methods, Production, Customer Service, Quality, and others.
You will be part of the Electrical Systems Competency Center team responsible for:
- Design of advanced systems and technical expertise;
- Design assurance and problem resolution;
- Supplier management, technical integration and cross-functional collaboration.
Your role will be to lead and manage engineering projects through deep technical expertise in aircraft electrical and lighting systems, and proven project and program management skills to ensure schedule compliance, budget adherence and quality in a complex, multidisciplinary environment.
Responsibilities
- Provide technical leadership and guidance during integration, development, qualification and certification of electrical and lighting systems for the A220 aircraft family;
- Contribute to defining the architectural framework for electrical and lighting systems, ensuring long-term technical consistency, design integrity and alignment with program objectives;
- Ensure design convergence across multiple concurrent development projects, guaranteeing that architectural decisions meet technical, operational and certification requirements;
- Act as a technical resource for compiling and synthesizing data related to program changes, ensuring all technical requirements are accurately reflected in the system design;
- Lead design reviews as the technical expert with strategic system suppliers and certification authorities to ensure design objectives are met;
- Manage, review and technically approve key deliverables from system suppliers, ensuring compliance with technical specifications and program standards;
- Ensure the technical interface with other engineering disciplines and program functions, facilitating effective exchange of critical data required for design progress;
- Collaborate closely with internal functions such as production, customer support, the program office, procurement and product planning to ensure design solutions are feasible, cost-effective and compliant with downstream requirements;
- Define and implement high-impact technical solutions to resolve development issues, both in service and on the final assembly line.
Requirements
- University degree in electrical or aerospace engineering or equivalent;
- At least seven (7) years of relevant experience in design, development, integration, testing and certification of aircraft systems;
- Expertise in project management, supplier management and the ability to lead complex projects;
- Expertise in systems engineering, product development, V&V, AC & DC aircraft architectures and lighting systems;
- Positive, proactive and committed attitude;
- Expertise in complex continued airworthiness risk assessment and presenting to the continued airworthiness review board;
- Experience with the DO-160 qualification process and knowledge of DO-178;
- Experience with the FAR 25/525 certification process and with the ARP4754 standard;
- Experience with civil aviation authorities and airworthiness bodies;
- Proficiency with Google Suite tools for creating presentations and reports;
- Ability to work well in a cross-functional team environment;
- Proactive and engaged in data digitization and analysis;
- Strong written and spoken communication skills in French and English;
- Knowledge in mechanical engineering is considered an asset.
