Product Owner

Job Summary
As part of their duties, the Product Owner (PO) will be paired with a talented and professional development team accustomed to facing varied and complex challenges. The multidisciplinary team is responsible for setting up and developing a solution to accelerate the industrialization of artificial intelligence models.
The team defines and deploys an automated processing chain with the objective of facilitating the training of artificial intelligence models to increase and facilitate the analysis of collected data. The team is composed of developers and artificial intelligence specialists.
Essential Functions
As a PO (Product Owner), your responsibility is to align the product vision with the strategic and functional challenges of various stakeholders.
Vision and orientation
• The PO must be able to properly understand the challenges of users, stakeholders and must understand the technological and budgetary limitations of the product to make good decisions in the construction of the system to maximize performance and value addition.
• They document the vision and the functional roadmap of their product; defining the functions, technological needs and evolutions of the product;
• They work in concert with other teams using their product to align their development roadmaps with the product roadmap.
Planning
• The product owner organizes the quarterly project planning;
• They validate the functional breakdown and ensure the consistency of all product functions;
• They define and document the work plan as well as the user stories they write and prioritize in a backlog;
• They participate in the estimation of the entire development and support cost structure of the product;
• The product owner must be able to maintain and communicate the version plan to the various stakeholders;
• The product owner prioritizes user needs among the different projects that use the product to ensure alignment with the overall product vision based on project constraints;
• The product owner communicates with stakeholders related to the different projects that use the product to take into account issues that may impact product priorities and deliverables;
• The product owner is responsible, jointly with the team, for respecting the product delivery commitments.
Validation
• The product owner validates the alignment of the team's work with the product vision during sprint reviews.
• They validate the quality of the team's work in sprint reviews in which they test and execute system test scenarios;
Communication and documentation
• The product owner must maintain and communicate the product roadmap to the various stakeholders and users of the product;
• The product owner must present the product internally and externally;
• They communicate with the various stakeholders related to the product to take into account issues that may impact priorities and deliverables (project manager, UX designer, technical lead, scientists, clients, collaborators...);
• The product owner may have to contribute, with the rest of the team, to the functional and user documentation of the developed solutions.
Minimum Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in computer science or any other related field is relevant;
- The candidate should have at least 10 years of relevant experience;
- Good command of French and English, spoken and written;
- Have good communication, be a good listener and demonstrate openness to work with various stakeholders such as clients, project managers, scientists, designers and the development team;
- Have a good sense of organization, responsibility and prioritization;
- Intellectual curiosity, a desire to learn and diversify is essential;
- Have teamwork skills and promote collective intelligence;
- Ability for functional analysis and breakdown into feature blocks.
This position requires a good knowledge of English for writing technical documents, to interact, support and/or provide services to international clients, employees and/or partners as well as foreign government authorities who do not speak French.
Desirable Qualification
- Experience with Agile development methods (Scrum, Kanban) is an asset;
- Demonstrated expertise in complex and distributed software solutions.
Special Requirements for the position
Travel: between 4 and 6 trips to Europe or elsewhere in Canada are expected per year.
