As part of the role, the Product Owner (PO) will be paired with a talented and professional development team that is used to tackling varied and complex challenges. The multidisciplinary team is responsible for implementing and developing a solution to accelerate the industrialization of artificial intelligence models. The team defines and deploys an automated processing pipeline to facilitate model training and to increase and ease the analysis of collected data. The team is composed of developers and AI specialists.
Key responsibilities
Vision and direction
- The PO must understand user and stakeholder issues and be aware of the product's technological and budgetary constraints to make sound decisions to maximize performance and value.
- Document the product vision and functional roadmap, defining features, technological needs and product evolution.
- Work with other teams using the product to align their development roadmaps with the product roadmap.
Planning
- Organize the project's quarterly planning activities.
- Validate the functional breakdown and ensure overall feature coherence.
- Define and document the work plan and write and prioritize user stories in a backlog.
- Participate in estimating total development and support cost structure for the product.
- Maintain and communicate the release plan to stakeholders.
- Prioritize user needs across projects using the product to ensure alignment with the overall product vision given project constraints.
- Communicate with stakeholders from different projects that use the product to account for issues that may impact product priorities and deliverables.
- Be jointly responsible with the team for meeting product delivery commitments.
Validation
- Validate that the team's work aligns with the product vision during sprint reviews.
- Validate the quality of the team's work in sprint reviews by testing and executing system test scenarios.
Communication and documentation
- Maintain and communicate the product roadmap to stakeholders and users.
- Present the product internally and externally.
- Communicate with stakeholders (project managers, UX designers, technical leads, scientists, clients, collaborators) to account for issues that may impact priorities and deliverables.
- Contribute with the team to functional and user documentation for developed solutions when required.
Minimum requirements
- Bachelor's degree in computer science or another relevant field.
- At least 10 years of relevant experience.
- Good command of French and English, both spoken and written.
- Strong communication skills, listening ability and openness to work with clients, project managers, scientists, designers and the development team.
- Good sense of organization, responsibility and prioritization.
- Intellectual curiosity and willingness to learn and diversify.
- Teamwork skills and ability to foster collective intelligence.
- Functional analysis skills and ability to decompose into functional blocks.
This role requires a good knowledge of English for writing technical documents, and to interact with, support and/or provide services to international clients, employees and/or partners and foreign government authorities who do not speak French.
Desired qualifications
- Experience with Agile development methods (Scrum, Kanban) is an asset.
- Demonstrated expertise in complex, distributed software solutions.
Specific job requirements
Travel: Between 4 and 6 trips to Europe or elsewhere in Canada are expected per year.
