Reporting to the Manager – Digital Products – Flight Operations, the Product Owner must represent business needs and ensure the implementation of solutions that support Crew Payroll processes, as well as crew assignment, tracking, and planning activities.
This position combines solid operational expertise with product ownership responsibility. The Product Owner ensures that implemented capabilities align with business priorities, contractual obligations, and regulatory requirements, while delivering measurable value to the organization.
This position is suited for an individual who possesses both deep domain expertise and the ability to drive product decisions. The incumbent plays a vital role by proposing practical, reliable, and high-value solutions that meet the needs of the business and its stakeholders.
Responsibilities:
Product Ownership and Prioritization
- Manage the product backlog for features related to the crew management system of the Operations Modernization Program.
- Perform detailed data validation and reconciliation activities to ensure the accuracy and integrity of payroll data from source and target crew assignment, tracking, and planning systems.
- Lead file comparison and data verification exercises between legacy applications and their replacements to identify discrepancies, gaps, and processing issues.
- Analyze datasets using Microsoft Excel, including advanced formulas, pivot tables, lookup functions, and data comparison techniques to facilitate validation and decision-making.
- Develop and execute SQL queries to validate business rules, investigate data-related anomalies, and support operational testing and analytics.
- Validate inbound and outbound interfaces, data conversions, and system integrations to ensure accurate information flow between applications.
- Act as the primary liaison between operations, business stakeholders, and implementation teams.
- Engage stakeholders from Crew Payroll and Crew Planning, Tracking, and Assignment.
- Reconcile competing priorities to ensure adherence to timelines.
- Translate business needs into clear, actionable requirements and user stories.
- Define acceptance criteria and ensure solutions meet business expectations.
Validation and Quality Assurance
- Support the testing strategy, including functional testing, regression testing, and user acceptance testing (UAT).
- Ensure proposed solutions meet business requirements and operational realities.
- Provide structured feedback to ensure usability, accuracy, and completeness.
- Review and validate user guides, training materials, and system documentation.
- Ensure content accurately reflects management methods and the system.
Qualifications
- Significant experience in crew-related services such as compensation, assignment, and planning (typically at least three years of experience, preferably).
- Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel, including complex formulas, pivot tables, Power Query, and large-scale data analytics.
- Practical knowledge of SQL and database query tools for data validation, investigation, and reporting.
- Ability to translate business needs into clear and structured requirements.
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Knowledge of crew systems (e.g., EmpCenter, RainMaker, NetLine, Jeppesen, SPP, or equivalent) is an asset.
- Ability to make decisions and manage competing priorities under pressure.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills.
- Demonstrate punctuality and reliability to support the overall success of the team in a fast-paced environment.
