Within the Platforms - Travel and Loyalty group, the Product Owner - Travel Platform will collaborate with internal stakeholders and vendors to ensure our technologies support the overall experience, design, and product vision for Travel and Loyalty. The role will work with other Air Canada areas including IT, Digital Solutions, Tax, Legal, Marketing, Aeroplan, and the Contact Centre to identify business needs and goals and translate them into specific requirements for our technology service providers.

The role will be based in Montréal or Toronto and will report to the Head of Products - Travel Platforms.

Responsibilities

  • Act as a subject matter expert and point of contact for Air Canada's Loyalty Platform team, with a particular focus on travel platforms.
  • Lead travel product optimization to maximize customer engagement and conversion.
  • Serve as the primary contact for external vendors to ensure requirements are met, change and incident management procedures are followed, and leadership receives regular updates.
  • Work with external vendors to ensure their product roadmaps meet Air Canada and Aeroplan needs and requirements.
  • Prioritize and manage the product backlog, ensuring requirements and acceptance criteria are well defined and aligned with the strategic roadmap.
  • Oversee acceptance criteria and user acceptance testing for releases and deliveries of travel and loyalty platforms.
  • Collaborate with the UI and UX design teams to create wireframes, prototypes, and user stories that effectively communicate design concepts and requirements.
  • Work with internal Air Canada stakeholders—including Brands, Marketing, Legal, Finance, Contact Centre, Fraud, IT, and Aeroplan Points Management—to ensure their travel and non-air loyalty technology needs and objectives are represented.
  • Collaborate with Product Owners and Heads of Product across cross-functional teams, including E-commerce, Digital Solutions, and Aeroplan Points Management, to align respective product backlogs, ensure successful technical delivery, and account for dependencies.
  • Lead initiatives to adopt new ways of collaborating with Air Canada stakeholders through new processes and tools.
  • Conduct market research to identify trends and innovation opportunities. Recommend and implement improvements to deliver a world-class Air Canada loyalty program experience.
  • Stay informed of customer sentiment through feedback forms, call listening, surveys, and usability testing to identify areas for improvement and anticipate customer needs.
  • Coordinate campaigns in collaboration with Marketing and support large-scale campaigns.
  • Monitor key performance indicators and trends related to Travel and Loyalty products.
  • Support leadership in program and roadmap planning.
  • Support leadership in financial budgeting and forecasting exercises.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in business administration, marketing, or a related field.
  • At least three years of experience as a business analyst or Product Owner.
  • Proven ability to work on Agile and Waterfall projects.
  • Proven ability to work in a cross-functional environment, communicate concisely, build consensus, and manage expected outcomes.
  • Strong relationship management skills.
  • Proactive and able to independently manage multiple urgent and sensitive business initiatives simultaneously.
  • Ability to connect strategic business needs with technical requirements using innovation and creativity.
  • Ability to communicate clearly and effectively in both technical and business terms.
  • Experience in the travel industry, or strong knowledge of it, is highly desirable.
  • Knowledge of Air Canada or the airline industry is highly desirable.
  • Experience with loyalty programs is an asset but not required.

Conditions of Employment
