Air Canada is looking for a highly motivated and detail-oriented Product Owner to join the Air Canada IT team. As a Product Owner within the Enterprise Products team, the successful candidate will promote Agile ways of working and continuous improvement within the Product teams and the business unit. They will build strong relationships with business partners, acting as a trusted resource for all technology-related requests and solutions. Their role will include providing timely insights and business cases to the leadership team, ensuring business and product impacts are communicated effectively.
The Product Owner bridges the gap between business needs and technical delivery, ensuring solutions are practical, scalable, and aligned with business priorities. This position requires excellent stakeholder management, the ability to translate complex business processes into clear product requirements, and a commitment to continuous improvement in how teams deliver value. The successful candidate must be customer-focused, have a passion for the travel industry, and be comfortable working in a highly dynamic, fast-paced environment that fosters collaboration and relies on a continuous product delivery model.
Responsibilities:
- Take responsibility for the product backlog, ensuring features and enhancements are clearly defined, prioritized, and aligned with business objectives.
- Translate business management methods and operational workflows into actionable user stories and clear acceptance criteria for development teams.
- Collaborate with business partners to understand operational challenges and identify opportunities for digital solutions that improve efficiency and user experience.
- Organize discovery sessions and workshops with stakeholders to gather requirements, validate product direction, and refine solutions.
- Work closely with Engineering teams on sprint planning, product backlog refinement, and release planning to ensure efficient product delivery.
- Ensure product features are delivered with clearly defined requirements, acceptance criteria, and stakeholder agreement.
- Support the deployment of new tools, processes, and product features by collaborating with business units to drive adoption and gather feedback for continuous improvement.
- Coordinate with other IT Product teams and business units to manage cross-team dependencies and ensure solutions integrate effectively into Air Canada's technology ecosystem.
- Create business requirements documents and formalize business cases for IT integration.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in business, technology, or a related field.
- Minimum of three years of experience in product ownership, business analysis, or digital product delivery.
- Strong ability to translate business requirements into technical specifications and user stories.
- Experience working with Agile development teams and managing product backlogs.
- Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
- Strong organizational and prioritization skills in a fast-paced environment.
- Experience managing complex environments involving multiple stakeholders and reconciling competing priorities across multiple business groups.
- Experience using internal company tools or operational systems is an asset.
- Demonstrate proven punctuality and reliability to foster overall team success in a fast-paced environment.
- Experience in the airline or travel industry (Commercial Affairs, Loyalty, Operations, Cargo, call center) is an asset.
