As a technical writer, you will work closely with stakeholders at all levels to develop user manuals, technical guides, process documentation, training materials, process mappings, and other deliverables contributing to department objectives.

You will ensure that all documentation is clear, accurate, consistent, and compliant with organizational documentation standards and guidelines.

Here are your main responsibilities:

  • Create, modify, and update various documentation, including user manuals, technical guides, process documentation, training materials, SharePoint pages, and other operational deliverables.
  • Ensure that all content is clear, concise, consistent, and adapted to user needs, while maintaining high standards of quality and style.
  • Develop documentation in compliance with established templates, standards, and style guides.
  • Work autonomously and effectively in a dynamic environment, while simultaneously managing multiple documentation projects.
  • Conduct interviews and workshops with business experts to translate complex concepts into clear and actionable documentation.
  • Collaborate effectively with stakeholders at different hierarchical levels.
  • Review and correct documentation to ensure its compliance with the organization's and its clients' quality and consistency standards.
  • Evaluate the usability of the documentation to ensure that process instructions are clear, actionable, and easy to follow for the relevant users.
  • Ensure that all content intended for operational teams in Quebec/Canada is accurately translated into French.

THE SKILLS WE ARE LOOKING FOR

  • Hold a bachelor's degree in technical writing, communication, information technology, a related field, or relevant technical experience.
  • Possess at least 5 years of experience in technical writing, ideally in the military, program management, or a dynamic operational environment.
  • Proven experience in producing and maintaining diverse technical and operational documentation.
  • Have excellent oral and written communication skills in French and English*.
  • Ability to work quickly, autonomously, and effectively in a dynamic environment with tight deadlines.
  • Proficiency in documentation and editing tools, including Microsoft Word, Visio, FrameMaker, SharePoint.
  • Proficiency in content management systems such as HiCo IPS Suite is an asset.
  • Proficiency in other design tools such as Arbortext and Oxygen is also an asset.
  • Ability to learn and quickly adapt to new software, tools, and systems.
  • Excellent organizational, time management, and project management skills, with the ability to manage multiple priorities.
  • Knowledge of the S1000D standard.
