Job description
In collaboration with the Chief Flight Dispatcher, the incumbent ensures the safety, operational control, and efficiency of flights under their responsibility. They directly contribute to the smooth running of operations by analyzing flight conditions, anticipating operational issues, and making critical decisions in real-time.
Responsibilities
- Ensure the safety and operational control of flights in a Type A operating system.
- Plan flights safely and efficiently, taking into account operational and economic aspects.
- Ensure continuous monitoring of flights in collaboration with the captain until the engines are completely shut down.
- Analyze weather conditions and assess their impact on operations.
- Prepare, review, and modify flight plans when required.
- Coordinate necessary actions with various operational stakeholders.
- Apply emergency procedures and support decision-making during exceptional situations.
- Contribute to the overall performance of air operations through rigorous and proactive planning.
Qualifications
- Hold a high school diploma; a college or university education is an asset.
- Successful completion of FD-OPS and FD-MET exams.
- Hold a restricted radio operator certificate.
- Hold a valid passport for at least six months after the scheduled hiring date and be eligible to obtain a Restricted Area Identity Card (RAIC) within three months of hiring.
- Flight dispatch training from the CFTC and experience as a flight dispatcher are assets.
- Knowledge of air regulations and RAC, MNPS, RVSM, and ETOPS concepts (asset).
- Excellent command of MS Office tools (Word, Excel, Outlook, Teams) and demonstrated ease with collaborative digital tools and AI (e.g., Copilot). Ability to learn quickly and adapt to new technologies.
- Oral and written proficiency in French and English*A good command of French is required for positions in Quebec. The incumbent will frequently communicate in English, both orally and in writing, with colleagues, clients, or other stakeholders, both in Quebec and internationally.
