Job Summary :

Reporting to Operations, the Autonomous Production Unit Manager is responsible for organizing and managing production to deliver finished products within required deadlines, costs, and quality. They must ensure team performance while strictly adhering to health and safety rules. They are also responsible for implementing improvement plans and acting as a lead within a multi-trade team. They supervise a team of four supervisors and manage a total of 80 to 100 employees in a unionized environment.

Main Responsibilities

  • Plan production in collaboration with workshop managers and respond to unforeseen events and technical hazards;
  • Ensure monitoring and governance of the production service by analyzing control indicators and addressing encountered issues;
  • Coordinate production requirements with other departments, notably maintenance;
  • Manage production personnel, including recruitment, skills development, and daily management;
  • Accompany and support supervisors (REAP) in their tasks to ensure their skills development;
  • Facilitate and communicate objectives and technical, quality, and safety developments to the teams;
  • Improve production processes, analyze failures, and propose solutions to increase productivity and responsiveness;
  • Ensure budgetary monitoring of their perimeter and propose necessary investments in collaboration with other departments;
  • Participate in homogenizing program management methods in alignment with management directives.

Job Requirements

Academic Background : College Diploma (DEC) or training in management or supervision.

Experience : A minimum of 5 to 10 years of experience in production.

Specific Requirements :

  • Good technical knowledge in aeronautics and health and safety at work aspects;
  • Experience in management in a unionized environment;
  • Mastery of the Microsoft Office suite. Knowledge of SAP is an asset;
  • Knowledge of WHMIS standards;
  • Strong leadership and team facilitation capacity;
  • Excellent communication and collaboration with various departments;
  • English, spoken and written (an asset)

Resource Management

Human Resources: 4 supervisors and approximately 80 to 100 employees.

Financial: Department budget.

Working Conditions

Physical effort: no physical effort required.

Physical working environment: The position is a combination of office work and presence on the factory floor, in direct contact with production teams. Strict compliance with health and safety rules is essential.
