The Material Management Lead is responsible for overseeing the planning, control, and flow of materials across the supply chain and manufacturing operations while optimizing inventory, cost, and service levels. This role leads material planning and inventory control activities while collaborating closely with procurement, production, logistics, master data and quality teams to support operational objectives.

Location: Longueuil. Schedule: Monday to Friday, flexible hours, exclusively on-site.

What will your day-to-day look like?

  • Lead material planning, inventory control, and replenishment strategies to meet production and customer requirements.
  • Define and maintain enterprise inventory planning strategies, parameters, and policies to ensure reliable material availability while optimizing inventory investment, resilience, and operational efficiency.
  • Establish and govern standards for material planning parameters (e.g., buffers, lead times, scrap factors, and level loading) to ensure consistency, data integrity, and alignment with business objectives across planning systems.
  • Analyze demand patterns, supply variability, and material segmentation to set the right inventory levels while balancing service, cost, and risk.
  • Coordinate with Procurement and Suppliers to ensure timely delivery of raw materials and components.
  • Collaborate with Production, Engineering, and Quality teams to align material availability with schedules and priorities.
  • Monitor and analyze material usage, inventory turns, lead times, and demand forecasts.
  • Manage material-related risks, including supply disruptions and obsolescence.
  • Maintain accurate data within ERP/MRP systems and ensure compliance with internal controls.
  • Develop, lead and implement continuous improvement initiatives focused on optimization of material flow, reduction of costs, line-side delivery, and warehouse-to-production integration.
  • Prepare and present performance metrics, reports, and forecasts to leadership.
  • Lead, coach, and support material planners and inventory champions.

What do you need to be successful?

  • Bachelor's degree in supply chain management, Operations Management, Industrial Engineering, or a related field.
  • 5+ years of experience in material management, manufacturing operations, or supply chain planning within an operational environment.
  • Demonstrated experience supporting manufacturing sites or production operations.
  • Strong working knowledge of ERP/MRP systems (e.g., SAP, Oracle).
  • Experience in operational excellence, lean manufacturing, or continuous improvement is a strong asset.
  • Strong operational mindset with the ability to balance production needs and inventory constraints.
  • Excellent cross-functional communication and stakeholder management skills.
  • Analytical, solution-oriented approach to problem solving.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
  • Leadership skills with the ability to influence without direct authority.

This position is part of a French-speaking work environment; it requires a very good knowledge of English to read and understand daily documentation and technical terms from international sources, and to write and communicate in English with customers, suppliers or international colleagues.

The selected candidate will be required to complete a criminal background check and any applicable clearances with respect to the handling and transfer of controlled goods. Employment is conditional upon the successful completion of these checks and obtaining the required clearances.
