Position Summary
The Engineering Delivery Manager (EDM) is responsible and accountable for the delivery of the assigned work package, how it feeds into the project's business rhythm and all associated governance aspects in order to ensure successful project execution. The role demands highly developed communication and influencing skills.
Technical depth and domain experience are required to ensure delivery to schedule, cost and quality requirements and to the satisfaction of the customer. The ability to lead and motivate an integrated technical team is key to successful execution.
The EDM will work within Thales Canada Defence and Security (TCDS). The scope is to organize, plan and coordinate work across multiple teams, ensuring processes are followed and improved. This role will act as the portfolio coordinator for tools and products operated by TCDS.
Key Areas of Responsibility
- Provide overall leadership, direction, and technical guidance to a cross-disciplinary project team.
- Plan, organize, and control staff and resources to achieve project goals within delegated authority.
- Develop, integrate, and manage the project and engineering Work Breakdown Structures (WBS/OBS) in alignment with project plans.
- Establish project governance, using Thales methodologies and best practices throughout the lifecycle.
- Create and maintain detailed technical project schedules, ensuring achievement of milestones and performance objectives.
- Oversee technical program deliverables, ensuring solutions meet requirements and secure customer acceptance.
- Monitor and control project schedule, scope, and technical performance against approved baselines.
- Implement predictive monitoring and robust risk/opportunity management to ensure timely delivery and compliance.
- Promote a safe working environment and ensure activities meet legal and company standards.
- Foster collaboration and maintain effective relationships with the Project Manager (PM), Project Design Authority (PDA), other EDMs and internal stakeholders.
- Embed continuous improvement, promote execution excellence, and capture lessons learned across the project.
- Support team recruitment, resource planning, and contribute to broader company or program objectives as required.
- Coordinate, schedule, and oversee all phases of the software release lifecycle, ensuring timely and high-quality delivery of releases into production in alignment with business and technical requirements.
- Manage release activities across multiple teams, enforcing configuration management practices, mitigating release-related risks, and facilitating communication between development, QA, operations, and other key stakeholders.
Minimum Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering or Computer Science or, in lieu of a degree, 6 years of directly relevant engineering experience and/or education (e.g. Technical Diploma) as equivalency.
- 10+ years of technical experience (with 5+ of those years in project management with a budget of at least $1 million)
- Experience using the V-Model to execute technical work
- Experience using Waterfall and Agile methodologies within a project environment
Preferred Qualifications
- Strong project management skills and experience
- Experience working in marine and ship-building environments
- Experience in defining and/or implementing Business Process Automation (BPA) flows/processes
- Experience with planning tools such as Jira, Confluence, P6, MS Project
- Experience delivering for both Fixed Firm and Time & Material contracts
- Experience working with in-service support contracts
- Experience following, creating and updating workflows/processes

Special Position Requirements
The reference Total Target Compensation (TTC) market range for this position, inclusive of annual base salary and the variable compensation target, is between Total Target Cash (TTC) $130,000 - $165,000 CAD Annual.
