Do you have solid experience in communications, worked in media relations, content writing, and external communications strategy, and want to grow and develop new skills? Then this position is for you!

Airbus is looking for an External Communications Manager to complete our 360 communications team based in Mirabel (Quebec, Canada), where you will work jointly with the A220 leadership team, Airbus Canada teams (helicopters, defense, and subsidiaries), and the Airbus communications team based in Toulouse and worldwide.

You will be part of the team responsible for internal and external communications, A220 product communications, Airbus brand image in Canada, audiovisual content, events and visits, and community involvement.

The team organization is established to promote cross-collaboration autonomously, supporting each other and learning collectively.

Your role as External Communications Manager will be to:

  • Promote Airbus in Quebec and Canada as a leader in aerospace, business, decarbonization, and research & technology.
  • Support the external reputation of the A220 program locally and internationally.
  • Support the business objectives of the A220 program and Airbus in Canada by translating business needs into appropriate external media and social media communication plans, in line with Airbus's global communication strategy.
  • Support the deployment of integrated 360-degree communication strategies through the preparation and delivery of external communication content, the organization of media visits, public speaking engagements, and major events, and the measurement of impact on target audiences.
  • Implement and monitor the deployment of the external communication strategy with local colleagues and global reporting, as well as manage external stakeholders (e.g., customers, partners, suppliers, industry).
  • Work in close collaboration with communication experts across A220, helicopters, defense in Canada, and other regions worldwide where A220 aircraft operate.
  • Work in close collaboration with our public relations agency based in Montreal.
  • Orchestrate partnerships with content creators and other influential stakeholders.
  • Act as a spokesperson for journalists.

You will report to the Head of Communications for Airbus in Canada.

Your Challenges:

  • Support the deployment of local external communication strategies within the largest multinational aerospace company;
  • Advise on external communications for the A220 program locally and globally;
  • Write content intended for an external audience (e.g., press releases, speeches, key messages, social media, etc.);
  • Ensure consistency and message alignment with all stakeholders: suppliers, industry, customers, governments, shareholders, authorities, and Airbus leadership in Canada and abroad;
  • Support the planning and organization of external communication activities for Airbus commercial aircraft in Canada, the A220 program, helicopters, defense, and other Airbus subsidiaries in Canada – in partnership with our customers and local partners;
  • Seek opportunities to position Airbus externally as a corporate citizen in the communities where it operates in Quebec and across Canada;
  • Build and nurture positive relationships with key media in Quebec, Canada, and globally, both general and aerospace-specialized;
  • Prepare and accompany Executive Committee leadership members in Canada and/or technical subject matter experts during public appearances and media interviews;
  • Contribute to the external positioning of the CEO of Airbus Canada (e.g., managing the LinkedIn account).

Your Profile:

  • Hold a university degree in a communications-related field with a specialization in public relations and five (5) to ten (10) years of relevant experience;
  • Bilingual in French and English with strong planning and writing skills;
  • Excellent interpersonal skills to manage diverse stakeholders;
  • Excellent ability to meet deadlines, work in a fast-paced environment, and adapt to changes;
  • Ability to see the big picture and solve problems effectively;
  • Demonstrate autonomy, creativity, teamwork skills, and professionalism;
  • Ability to handle unexpected situations, show initiative, and pay attention to detail;
  • Strong knowledge of the media landscape and the Canadian geopolitical context;
  • Ability to make technical information accessible, depending on the audience;
  • Work experience and advisory role with senior leadership;
  • Skilled at working effectively in a global organization and capable of coordinating projects involving multiple stakeholders across different geographical regions and time zones;
  • Demonstrated resilience, agility, adaptability, detail and deadline orientation, diplomacy, and quick thinking;
  • Strong presentation skills and business acumen;
  • Constant curiosity for positioning opportunities and the latest trends;
  • Strong knowledge of AI tools, Microsoft IT systems, GSuite, performance tools, media management tools, digital and multimedia tools (e.g., website updates), and social media platforms.

Asset: Experience in a multinational corporation, in the aerospace or transportation sector, and familiarity with collaborating across cross-border teams. Experience in crisis communications management is also an asset.

This role may involve sporadic business travel (to the US, Canada, or Europe).

Due to the sector of activity (aerospace), frequent contacts with Airbus entities worldwide, and interactions with suppliers and clients also located across the globe, proficiency in English is required for this position.
