The A220 commercial aircraft program is seeking an engineering leader to drive the development of flight control system major mods for the A220 program and join our aircraft control team based in Mirabel (Quebec, Canada), where you will work with a multidisciplinary team and in collaboration with the Airbus development team based in Bremen and Toulouse.

You will be part of the aircraft control team responsible for developing the flight control systems (primary and secondary) for the A220 aircraft.

The team organization is established to promote cross-collaboration autonomously, supporting each other and learning collectively.

Your role as an engineering leader will be to spearhead major flight control development projects. In this context, you will ensure proper progress of the projects, advise the domain managers, the Chief Engineer and the Program teams, and share your recommendations with the aircraft control team.

Your challenges:

• Lead the development of the flight control system as the Airbus Canada Engineering representative.
• Represent the flight control domain and/or the project in relevant program forums (TRM, PRM), before the organization's Chief Engineer and the Program Manager.
• Secure key interdependencies with other organizations.
• Assess and report on project performance.
• Validate scope and requirements between the domain and the program (assumptions, scope of activities, budget, and resource sizing).
• Manage the end-to-end financial lifecycle within the applicable domain or project scope, including budget negotiation with the program, budget allocation, and tracking of actuals.
• Ensure the consistency of domain or project deliverables.
• For critical domain deliverables, coordinate with managers to ensure activities are executed in line with program objectives (including coordinating reviews as necessary or requested).
• Ensure that risks and opportunities are managed and that mitigation measures are implemented.
• Ensure alignment between the scope/requirements and the allocated financial targets.
• Provide regular reporting at the domain level, to the Program Manager (regular meetings), and to the program (business reviews).

Your boarding pass:

• You have demonstrated leadership in the aerospace industry.
• You hold a University degree in Mechanical, Aerospace Engineering or equivalent in a recognized University.
• You have a minimum of 20 years of experience in the aerospace industry.
• You have experience in at least one complete development cycle from preliminary design to entry into service
• You have experience in the sustaining phase (continuing airworthiness, safety management)
• You have experience in management of complex planning and budget
• You have knowledge of the specification, design, integration, test and certification of flight control systems and its components.
• You have knowledge of the regulatory requirements applicable to aircraft systems.
• You have advanced communication skills in French and English
• You have advanced organizational & planning skills.
• The position requires the ability to obtain a clearance for export controlled documents,
• You may have to complete a competency assessment at Airbus Development Center

This role may involve some travels for business (worldwide). Travel Required: Occasional travel within US and overseas.
