As a member of the product engineering team, the candidate will participate directly in the design and development of optimal product solutions that enable Lockheed Martin Canada Inc. (Lockheed Martin) to maintain a strong position in the naval market. As the hardware systems lead responsible for the hardware architecture of our naval Combat Management System (CMS) for international programs, this role involves designing CMS products that meet customer requirements, establishing supplier relationships, evaluating potential equipment fit, and supporting the development of backend system hardware from prototyping through end of life.
The candidate must be able to lead project coordination, cost accounting, work estimates and team execution, leveraging an Agile product design approach. The candidate will also lead the team in proposing improvements, performing risk analyses, and supporting design reviews to optimize system and hardware design.
Key responsibilities
The candidate will perform the following tasks:
- Analytical account management
- Project planning and execution tracking
- Preparation of estimating bases
- Requirements analysis, derivations, reconciliation and traceability for an integrated system including hardware and software designs
- Production and/or review of design artifacts for systems and hardware products
- Production and/or review of white papers and market studies for systems and hardware products
- Coordination of activities with procurement and communication with suppliers to determine appropriate products to meet system requirements
- Creation, production and maintenance of a detailed bill of materials (BOM) to support equipment definition
- Support to design and demonstration that selected hardware solutions meet required performance and cyber accreditation criteria (including operational environment, network, processing, storage, interfaces, protections, data and network security, storage architecture, middleware, processing utilization, system configuration and management, measurements and optimization of technical performance, etc.)
- Review of market-offered technologies and industry/technology trends, including cost-benefit studies and prototype demonstrations. Define technology selection criteria based on required performance and lead cost-benefit analyses.
What you bring
- Bachelor's degree in engineering or a related field with a minimum of nine years' professional experience in the field, or a minimum of seven years' professional experience with a master's in a related field
- Ability to communicate effectively (in French and English) with technical and non-technical engineering and management staff, as well as with related task personnel
- Experience in earned value management (EVM)
- Project management experience and use of planning tools such as MS Project
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office tools
- Good knowledge of model-based systems engineering (MBSE)
- Ability to solve complex problems within a team
- High degree of initiative and autonomy
- Strong capacity for learning
- Ability to adapt and perform in a dynamic environment
Additional desired skills
The following skills and certifications are considered assets:
- Experience leading product development with Agile methodologies and tools such as Jira and Confluence
- Knowledge of hardware lifecycle management from design to procurement and obsolescence
- Certified Product Owner
- Certified Scrum Master
- Familiarity with DOORS, CAMEO, Jira, Windchill and Confluence
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint)
- Good knowledge of configuration management processes
Language requirements (Québec)
Knowledge of English is required for this position so that the candidate can perform all functions. The role requires daily communication with a virtual team outside Québec. The candidate will also need to communicate with various members of the organization, customers and suppliers located outside Canada. For engineering positions, the candidate will also need to be able to read or modify technical documents from our principal clients and to draft technical documents for those clients.

Salary range
$119,000 - $156,000
