The delivery train manager provides committed leadership and the realization of key strategic initiatives within Air Canada's Information Technology management. The selected person ensures coordination between different suppliers, IT system and product teams and ensures that they take into account all strategic IT objectives. They work with internal and external stakeholders, as well as with business units, to leverage projects and programs and communicate their requirements, contribute to risk management, and provide continuous improvement for our customers.
Responsibilities:
- Collaborate with delivery managers, architects, product owners, technology partners, subject matter experts, and Scrum teams to monitor, track, and oversee the project.
- Facilitate product implementation planning interventions and establish iteration and program increment schedules.
- Assist in decision-making by facilitating feature estimation by teams and publish for planning, visibility, and transparency.
- Contribute to risk and dependency management, and track obstacles, scope, prioritization, and delivery status, escalating as needed.
- Ensure that the scope and priority of new tasks are well defined, and that these tasks are added to the backlog to be prioritized and estimated. Coordinate routines, processes, metrics, and reports that support planning and execution efforts.
- Partner with business users and guide the development and delivery of training, troubleshoot problems, assess user needs, and recommend changes.
- Ensure that all processes related to assignment and coordination (expected outcomes, resources, stakeholders, risks) run properly, and manage scheduling and resource conflicts between projects by making trade-offs between competing demands and resource assessment.
- Facilitate processes and ceremonies as part of the annual revalidation, including schedule publication and planning, review, and sprint retrospective meetings.
- Manage and optimize the value stream as part of the annual revalidation, identifying and eliminating barriers to progress.
- Ensure effective coordination and communication between annual revalidation stakeholders, including teams, Scrum Masters, Product Owners, delivery managers, and the Product Management team.
- Collaborate with the product management team and other stakeholders to prioritize and plan product increment goals and features.
- Monitor program achievement and progress, track performance metrics, and identify risks and issues for escalation as needed.
- Help Air Canada find and integrate the appropriate mix of resources to meet program needs and requirements.
- Interact as needed with suppliers, external industry participants, and regulatory bodies.
Qualifications
- University degree or relevant technical certificate, or relevant experience proportional to the position.
- More than five years of overall IT experience, at least five years of experience as a Scrum Master, Project Manager – Implementation, or Delivery Train Driver.
- Agile certification required (CSM); SAFe and CSP certification, an asset.
- Experience working in data and analytics projects.
- Strong understanding of Agile principles, values, and practices, with experience working in a SAFe environment.
- Experience with Agile and DevOps tools and processes, including JIRA, Confluence, and continuous integration and delivery pipelines.
- Proven ability to facilitate meetings and ceremonies, manage conflicts, and negotiate outcomes.
- Proven leadership and coaching skills, and ability to motivate and inspire teams to achieve goals and objectives.
- Ability to work effectively under pressure and in rapidly changing environments or under uncertain conditions.
- Demonstrated openness and willingness to adapt to new or different ways of working.
- Willingness to take responsibility for results and actively participate in defining the future direction of the team.
- Ability to cooperate with other team members, as well as to establish and cultivate effective business relationships.
- Demonstrate punctuality and reliability to promote overall team success in a fast-paced environment.
