We are looking for an experienced Advanced Industrialization Lead with strong technical expertise, a proactive approach, and a high capacity to work cross-functionally. This person will be responsible for defining procurement and manufacturing strategies, as well as driving the implementation of new sustainable components (parts and modules), assembly, and engine test activities (A&T), while supporting preparation activities related to Manufacturing Readiness Level (MRL).
You will play a key role in achieving the industrial maturity of future programs by ensuring that Pratt & Whitney Canada's supply base, partners, manufacturing sites, and assembly and test facilities (A&T) are competitive, high-performing, digitalized, and aligned with program schedules and technical requirements.
This position requires a strategic approach focused on risk management, as well as a strong capacity for innovation and adaptation to evolve within global supply chains and multiple production sites, in a highly regulated, performance-driven environment.
The position is located at our Longueuil facility from Monday to Friday, with flexible hours and exclusively on-site.
What your day-to-day will look like
Procurement and Manufacturing Strategy
- Drive procurement and manufacturing activities for components, modules, assembly systems, testing, and tooling for new engine programs.
- Define "make, buy or partner" strategies for new components based on technical, operational, and industrial requirements.
- Identify, evaluate, and assess suppliers, partners, and advanced manufacturing technologies (precision casting, superalloy machining, coatings, additive manufacturing, etc.).
- Establish dual or multi-sourcing strategies and develop risk mitigation plans in collaboration with industrialization teams.
Negotiation and Strategic Partnerships
- Lead negotiations of long-term agreements prior to production awards.
- Negotiate prices, non-recurring costs, development schedules, repair and overhaul agreements, tooling, and contractual terms.
- Collaborate with Partnership teams to develop risk-sharing models related to industrial development projects.
Industrial Optimization and Production Readiness
- Involve suppliers, partners, and sites from the early development phases to optimize design, manufacturability, assembly, and product costs (DfC, DFM, DFA).
- Define and track standard manufacturing costs (FSC) in collaboration with engineering and cost control, while identifying alternative solutions to improve margins.
- Ensure tracking of industrialization milestones (FAI, PPAP, and other industrial validations).
- Ensure suppliers, partners, and sites have MRL maturation plans and sufficient capacity to support development phases and ramp-up.
- Identify investment needs (CapEx) in tooling, special processes, test infrastructure, and new technologies, and contribute to business case development.
- Support technological maturity (TRL) and industrial maturity (MRL) evaluations.
Program Governance and Operational Readiness
- Collaborate with the Director of Advanced Industrialization, OPE leads, industrial engineers, and program teams to plan and execute deliverables related to RLPM milestones and production readiness.
- Ensure alignment of production plans and operational preparation activities with program schedules.
Project Management and Cross-Functional Collaboration
- Work closely with engineering, supply chain, manufacturing, assembly and testing, aftermarket support, and program management teams within Integrated Product Teams (IPT).
- Act as the primary point of contact between advanced industrialization, suppliers, partners, and internal sites.
- Coordinate program requirements, schedules, and expectations with all stakeholders to ensure the development and industrialization of new components and engines.
This position involves frequent travel and working variable hours to support suppliers, partners, and manufacturing, assembly, and test sites.
What you need to succeed
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in aerospace engineering, mechanical engineering, industrial engineering, manufacturing engineering, or supply chain management.
- More than 10 years of experience in supply chain management, aeronautical engine component manufacturing, industrialization, or comparable high-tech industries.
- Knowledge of aerospace manufacturing processes (casting, machining, coatings, additive manufacturing), aeronautical materials and processes (Inconel, titanium alloys, ceramic coatings, composites, propulsion components, advanced manufacturing methods), or manufacturing and assembly processes in regulated industries.
- Experience in cross-functional collaboration, risk assessment, problem-solving, and project management (technical planning, cost control, and risk mitigation).
- Ability to influence complex projects involving multiple sites, suppliers, and partners, and to act as a driver of change and transformation.
- Proficiency in ERP systems (SAP, Oracle or equivalent), procurement tools, and performance tracking systems for suppliers, partners, and sites.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience within civil or military aero-engine programs.
- Demonstrated experience in managing and influencing complex projects involving multiple sites, suppliers, and partners.
- Knowledge of TRL (Technology Readiness Level) and MRL (Manufacturing Readiness Level) evaluation frameworks, industrial maturity models, and risk assessment approaches.
- Knowledge of automation, robotics, and Industry 4.0 concepts.
- Familiarity with digital tools such as CAD/CAM software (CATIA), PLM systems (Teamcenter or equivalent), digital manufacturing platforms, and data analysis tools.
- Ability to work effectively within international networks comprising multiple sites, suppliers, and partners.
- Six Sigma, Lean, or PMP certifications are an asset.
