The Supply Chain Data Scientist will join the Data Science & Analytics department within the Enterprise Sales, Inventory & Operations Planning (SIOP). Our department is responsible for developing, maintaining and sustaining Enterprise Data Products using Business Intelligence, Data Science and Artificial Intelligence to support decision-making in core business planning processes such as Demand Planning, Master Production Scheduling, Capacity Planning, Inventory Optimization and Material Management.
This role involves gathering, analyzing, and documenting business requirements, and driving end-to-end data analytics projects to meet these requirements. The Data Scientist will leverage our digital data ecosystem, advanced programming skills mainly SQL and Python, and data visualization to develop new Data Products. The candidate will contribute to Data Analytics Architecture reviews, refactoring of existing Data Products and modernization of our Data Management practices. Finally, partnering with our Supply Chain Experts and Scientists, the candidate will also contribute to implementing cutting-edge Integrated Business Planning principles, Artificial Intelligence and Operations Research.
The position is based at our Longueuil location, from Monday to Friday, with flexible hours and exclusively on-site.
What will your day-to-day look like?
- Gather, analyze and document business requirements.
- Design and deliver business analytics solutions to address complex supply chain challenges.
- Conduct research about best data analytics practices related to Supply Chain Planning and Optimization.
- Develop and implement performance indicators, algorithms, reports and visual dashboards to support data-driven decision-making.
- Create and optimize end-to-end data pipelines.
- Perform advanced programming using SQL, Stored Procedures, Python, PySpark and Power BI.
- Contribute to Artificial Intelligence, including Large Language Models (LLMs) and Retrieval-Augmented Generation (RAG), and Operations Research projects.
- Provide coaching and training to end-users to ensure effective utilization of analytics tools and insights.
- Participate in Data Quality processes and tools modernization.
- Support ad-hoc data analysis and reporting requests as needed.
What do you need to be successful?
- University degree with over 5 years of experience in Industrial Engineering, Operations Management, Supply Chain Planning, Information Systems or Computer Science.
- Relevant experience in Operations Management, Supply Chain Planning or S&OP.
- Proficiency in designing and developing dashboards and reports for Executives.
- Write complex SQL queries and stored procedures to extract, clean, join and transform data into final reports.
- Demonstrated achievements with advanced data analytics, AI or OR.
- Expertise in data visualization with Power BI.
- Very good knowledge of SAP ERP PP, MM and FI.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
- Familiarity with agile project management approaches.
- Excellent communication skills and self-motivation to meet business objectives in short time-to-value.
- This position is part of a French-speaking work environment, it requires a very good knowledge of English to read and understand, on a daily basis, documentation and technical terms that may emanate from international organizations, as well as to write and communicate in English with customers, suppliers or international colleagues.
Preferred Qualifications
- Master’s degree or certification in Operations and Supply Chain Management, Operations Research, Business Intelligence or Data Science is a strong asset.
- PhD degree in a related field would be considered as an asset.
