Do you have experience in Artificial Intelligence, a background in aerospace and/or data analytics, and would you like to progress and develop new skills? Then this job is for you!

The A220 commercial aircraft Programme is looking for a Data Scientist to join our Engineering Strategy for Process, Methods and Tools and Data team based in Mirabel (Québec, Canada), where you jointly collaborate with all streams and functions of the enterprise, from Digital to Engineering, including Manufacturing, Operations and Customer Support.

You will be part of the Engineering Process, Methods, Tools & Ops Support team responsible for supporting the processes, methods, tools and elements relating to the management of data and the life cycle of the A220 product in order to increase the efficiency of Airbus Canada and the performance of the A220 Program.

This key role ensures the on-time, on-quality, on-cost, and on-performance delivery of Processes, Methods, Tools, Data, and Capabilities (PMTDC) focused on aerospace product development.

You are not just managing a tool or a process; you are defining the digital backbone of our future aircraft. You are the data expert ensuring that when a requirement changes in the Systems Architecture, it is correctly reflected in Manufacturing and supported by Customer Service years later through robust data pipelines and analytics.

As a Data Scientist, your role will be to work closely with various engineering capability centers (data generators) and IT teams within cross-functional teams to analyze issues, trends, and areas for improvement—with a primary focus on the quality and consistency of data generated within our Product Lifecycle Management (PLM) ecosystem. You will also proactively identify opportunities where Artificial Intelligence or Machine Learning can enhance our engineering processes.

Your working environment:

The A220 commercial aircraft Programme is headquartered in Mirabel, in the greater Montreal area, where the vibrant city of Montreal is just a stone’s throw away. Known for its peaceful and safe environment, the region offers a high quality of life for younger or experienced professionals and families, perfectly balancing career opportunities and outdoor activities that makes it a truly special place to call home.

How we care for you:

  • Financial rewards: Attractive salary, annual bonus, group insurance plan, pension plan and share purchase plan.
  • Work / Life Balance: A hybrid working policy (based on operational needs), on-site cafeterias and a highly competitive holiday policy.
  • Wellbeing/Health: Employee Assistance Program (EAP), Discount Program, on-site Medical Service, access to a public shuttle service between Laval (Montmorency metro station) and Mirabel, and a carpooling application.
  • Individual development: Great upskilling opportunities and development prospects with unlimited access to +10.000 e-learning courses to develop your employability, certifications, accelerated development programmes, national and international mobility.

Your challenges:

In a complex environment, support process owners and business architects by leading the definition and deployment of unified data models, analytics tools, and engineering processes to drive the integration of our engineering capability centers with peripheral functions such as Operations, Manufacturing Engineering, and Customer Support. Ensure a coherent data strategy to allow seamless collaboration on key projects (such as production ramp-up), securing smooth development and production across existing and new products.

Analyze data produced across various engineering tools and systems—along with their associated flows—to guarantee data consistency across the ecosystem.

In a cross-functional setup, build a strong internal network within Airbus, benchmark ways of working, and define/apply Airbus standards and best practices while leveraging lessons learned from the A220.

Successfully lead complex initiatives and projects requiring alignment across multiple business functions, ensuring flawless integration into the organization's IT and PLM ecosystem.

  • IA/ML Model Development: Design, test, and optimize supervised and unsupervised learning algorithms (product change analysis, effort and impact planning, supply chain forecasting, configuration management).
  • Translating Business Capabilities: Translate complex business needs—at the engineering design, analysis, and deliverable levels—into actionable data requirements and predictive insights.
  • Cross-Functional Coordination: Collaborate with various business and information management teams to initiate projects addressing the engineering capability centers' needs in data management and AI adoption.
  • Process Mapping & UML Modeling: Document engineering business processes, including identifying inputs, outputs, and linked dependencies.
  • Data Quality Management: Extract, clean, and merge massive volumes of heterogeneous data.
  • Coaching & Mentorship: Act as a coach for internal and external stakeholders on Data, Artificial Intelligence, Machine Learning, and their practical applications.
  • Learning Culture & Continuous Improvement: Foster a continuous improvement culture by establishing and driving Communities of Practice (CoP) and identifying optimization opportunities.

Your boarding pass:

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Engineering, Computer Science, Mathematics, or equivalent relevant experience;
  • Minimum of 8 years of experience, including at least 5 years related to manufacturing and data management;
  • High proficiency in data extraction, analysis, and visualization, as well as hands-on experience with associated data sources and tools (Python, SQL, R, Excel/Google Sheets, Power BI, Qlik, Microsoft SQL Server databases, working knowledge of SAP is an asset);
  • High proficiency in Machine Learning / Data stack in Python or R (Scikit-Learn, TensorFlow, PyTorch) and data processing tools (Pandas, PySpark);
  • Knowledge of Product Development activities, engineering support operations and PLM domains;
  • Proven ability to establish plans and set priorities to achieve business objectives;
  • Demonstrated track record of working effectively within cross-functional and culturally diverse teams;
  • Resourceful and creative in achieving target outcomes while adapting to evolving situations and new obstacles;
  • Ability to drive continuous improvement initiatives;
  • Familiarity with IT project management methodologies and application development (Waterfall, Agile, Scaled Agile/SAFe);
  • Strong oral and written communication skills in both English and French;
  • Familiarity with major PLM platforms and their underlying data structures;
  • Strong interpersonal skills to build solid relationships with internal and external stakeholders, with the ability to navigate a large organization to communicate complex technical solutions effectively.

This role may involve occasional business travel within Europe.

Due to the sector of activity (aerospace), frequent contacts with Airbus entities worldwide, and interactions with suppliers and clients also located across the globe, proficiency in English is required for this position.

This job requires an awareness of any potential compliance risks and a commitment to act with integrity, as the foundation for the Company’s success, reputation and sustainable growth.
