What you need to succeed

  • DEP in welding

  • Knowledge of TIG and MIG methods

  • This position is in a French-speaking workplace, nevertheless it requires a basic knowledge of English to understand certain specialized work instructions, drawings and technical terms that may emanate from international organizations

What will your daily life look like?

  • Weld based on drawings, sketches, numerical control machine programs, manufacturing processes, specifications and other verbal and written instructions.

  • Set up, adjust and operate manual, semi-automatic or numerical control equipment as well as resistance and electron beam welding machines.

  • Use methods such as TIG, MIG, spot and continuous or discontinuous beads.

  • Select electrodes and welding spindle rollers in accordance with material identifications and make adjustments.

  • Adjust the inert gas flow and the temporary shield.

  • Adjust the power according to the desired weld and perform the necessary precision adjustments.

  • Enter the data required for numerical control.

  • Install fixtures and determined fixing devices.

  • Ensure proper alignment and concentricity of the assembly.

  • Participate in program design.

  • Prepare the weld, load, position, fix the parts on the setup, plate or positioner, and adjust the gap clearance.

  • Weld and apply appropriate methods to obtain penetration, cut and desired appearance, in addition to preventing warping or distortion. Remove excess expulsion.

  • Perform dimensional and visual checks on parts during the manufacturing process as indicated or required using various types of precision measuring instruments and verification gauges or a liquid penetrant jet to assist in verification.

  • Keep appropriate records of various parameters up to date in order to establish efficient operations with statistical process control.

  • Work from instructions or dispositions to perform part rework.

  • Design or modify tools and fixtures and adapt appropriate setups.

  • Maintain necessary welding accreditations according to joint shapes, material types and thickness.

  • May be called upon to operate multiple closely spaced machines simultaneously.
