Responsibilities

  • Reporting to the foreman, you arc weld, trace, cut, shape, and assemble parts according to drawings and specifications;
  • You adjust and maintain your equipment, replace electrode wire, set joints, and work with patterns and templates to ensure flawless execution.
  • You check tightness, operate profile machines, ensure the assembly, alignment, and straightening of components, and then deliver straight, solid structures that comply with quality and OHS standards.

Skills and qualifications

  • DEP in welding-fitting OR;
  • Welding experience
  • CWB 4-position cards, FCAW-M (CSA W47.1-M) Marine
  • Reliability status

Additional info:

A CWB FCAW-M (Marine) competency card (according to standard CSA W47.1-M) for 4 positions qualifies a welder to perform flux-cored arc welding under gas shield (Flux-Core) in all orientations: flat (1F/1G), horizontal (2F/2G), vertical (3F/3G), and overhead (4F/4G).

  • Day: 4-day week x 10 hours
  • Evening: 4-day week x 10 hours
  • Weekend: 3-day week x 12 hours (paid 40 hours)

Specific safety conditions (Government requirement)

Due to the nature of federal and military contracts executed at the shipyard, the selected candidate must:

  • Be eligible to obtain a security clearance from the Government of Canada's Contract Security Program (CSP).
  • Hold a history of continuous residence in Canada (generally the last 5 years).

You must be available for all shifts. While we take your schedule preferences (day, evening, weekend) into account when creating schedules, they cannot be guaranteed.
