The A220 commercial aircraft program is seeking a Flight Control System Specialist to join the Aircraft Controls department based in Mirabel (Quebec, Canada), where you will work closely with teams in Mirabel, Toulouse, and Bremen.
You will be part of the Aircraft Controls team, which is responsible for the development, certification, production support, and in-service support of flight control and hydraulic systems for the A220 aircraft. We work closely with systems and structures design groups, certification authorities, and various engineering disciplines to deliver reliable and safe systems for the A220.
As a specialist for flight control systems development and integration, you will provide technical leadership for projects related to control systems. You will be involved in all phases of the system development lifecycle—from design and implementation to testing, certification, production and in-service support, and continued airworthiness. These activities are carried out in collaboration with our European counterparts within the Airbus group, leveraging lessons learned from other Airbus platforms.

Your challenges:
- Lead the development and integration of projects applicable to control systems.
- Evaluate and approve supplier designs by participating in solution development, design, manufacturing, integration, and verification processes.
- Collaborate with other program functions and disciplines to exchange the information needed to advance development and certification projects.
- Conduct technical investigations and analyze and develop solutions to problems.
- Participate in the preparation, execution, and analysis of investigative, development, and certification tests, particularly on the integrated systems simulation and certification platform (Iron Bird).
- Manage system design changes in accordance with the A220 change management process.
- Approve technical reports, such as technical requirement documentation, including requirement validation and verification.
- Provide technical support to the A220 production line to resolve issues affecting the flight control systems.
- Lead technical aspects of continued airworthiness regarding emerging issues impacting the system.
- Support the Customer Service department with in-service issues: investigations (in-depth root cause analysis and definition of corrective actions), troubleshooting procedures, and disposition.
- Represent the team in interactions with suppliers.
- Support specialists in determining technical approaches and making technical decisions.
- Support team members in reaching their full potential.
Your boarding pass:
- You hold a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in mechanical or aeronautical engineering from an accredited university and have at least 12 years of relevant experience.
- You have demonstrated leadership within the aerospace industry.
- Experience participating in at least one full aircraft development cycle—from preliminary design to entry into service—is an asset.
- You are proficient in the specification, design, integration, testing, and certification of flight control systems and their components.
- You are familiar with RTCA DO-160 and DO-178 standards.
- Experience with ARP4754 is considered an asset.
- Knowledge of certification requirements (TCCA/FAA/EASA Part 25) is an asset.
- You have knowledge of simulation, specifically using Matlab software (an asset).
- You possess strong written and verbal communication skills in both French and English.
Due to the sector of activity (aerospace), frequent contacts with Airbus entities worldwide, and interactions with suppliers and clients also located across the globe, proficiency in English is required for this position.
This role may involve some travels for business (in Europe and USA).
